I would love to hear about what happened on the wild ride that Devin Pearson referred to. Probably has a lot to do with the fact that they thought there was no f'ing chance Teel made it to 14.

Nazzan sounds like the best athlete (from purely an athletic standpoint) the Sox have drafted in a while.

Not sure if there was really a different pick to make at 50 if they went underslot at 14. Maybe it would have allowed them to grab another HS hitter in the third though.

Honest to go don't know how MLB Network keeps rolling Harold Reynolds out on the Draft. Not only is he obnoxious, he is ill-informed, and clueless. You can tell everyone on the set is annoyed by him.
Other than that an unbelievable first night of the draft!

I watched Nazzan's swing and there is a little Mookie in it (with less whip prior to contact). Nazzan starts off with the hands high, does the bat twirl, and attacks the ball with tremendous acceleration. I bet the sox show him a lot of Mookie videos when developing his swing.

Other than that an unbelievable first night of the draft! He's an inspiration to under achievers everywhere. I see him and think "maybe I can be President" whereas Jim Callis makes everything look like a lot of work (which I'm absolutely sure it is)

I like Harold, but he was bad tonight. Didn’t know who half the guys that were getting picked. The broadcast in general MEH. Skip the adds and a little more time between picks, If you want it to be a TV event. And MORE KNOWLEDGE OF THE Players

It turns out that, would you have it, players will allow you to draft them again if you offer them a bunch of money.

Loved the interviews from both picks, easy guys to route for. Looking forward to seeing where SP puts them.

Doubt many of the top HS guys are signable at this point unless you've got a big bonus pool.

He's a SS from Christian Brothers College in MO Baseball America: 110 MLB Pipeline: 52 Perfect Game: 85 Kiley McDaniel: 64 Keith Law: 33 Is it possible that Keith Law may actually say something positive about the Red Sox???!!! Pretty sure he was the most effusive in praising Teel throughout the process, as well. Keith Law liking both of our picks feels wrong somehow

Or if you’re the Yankees and allegedly blowing through the pool… if they do end up going that route, is there a point late in the draft where you take these guys off the board just to F with the MFYs?

Welp, I liked the first phase of the draft. Now for the onslaught of underslot college pitchers. I wonder if we gave him like 2.5 million

This sounds like overslot That's what I thought originally unless the Nationals thought he was going to fall and offered him underslot before pivoting to BPA when the Red Sox expressed interest at or around slot with pick #50

Those were two fascinating picks. They got the elusive catching prospect they haven't had in awhile.
And they also got a kid with a ton of tools who could have a high ceiling.
The only thing they haven't gotten lately early on is a pitcher to dream on. I guess we'll see a slew of underslot college pitchers tomorrow. I'll guess they get a college reliever who might be able to start in the 3rd round tomorrow? Don't know if they have any surprises tomorrow, but the 1st day was certainly interesting.
A catching solution that gets rid of the question of who is the future catcher of the Red Sox and a very toolsy high upside middle of the diamond player.

One fun surprise that came out of last year’s draft was not only Brooks Brannon but specifically that he came in a round where you typically see senior signs (9). I think that adds a ton of suspense to each pick. My guess is they come away with two more upside high schoolers and then the rest a mix of senior signs and Dalton Rogers type model darlings. I’d also guess one of those two high schoolers comes in round 3. Those comp picks should be a huge boon in terms of spreading that bonus money around, easy to be really excited about this class already.

Came to the conclusion years ago he was not there for what he could talk about which might be of interest to viewers, nor anything requiring knowledge.
