Top 10 Best Players Still Available according to The Athletic's Keith Law. Full scouting reports in the article. Excerpts:
1. Roch Cholowsky, SS, Hamilton High (Chandler, Ariz.) - #23 on Law's Top 100
2. Travis Sykora, RHP, Round Rock (Texas) High - #36 on Law's Top 100
3. Hunter Owen, LHP, Vanderbilt - #38 on Law's Top 100
4. Cooper Pratt, SS, Magnolia Heights School (Oxford, Miss.) - #40 on Law's Top 100
5. Tanner Witt, RHP, Texas - #45 on Law's Top 100
6. Travis Honeyman, OF, Boston College #46 on Law's Top 100
7. Parker Detmers, RHP, Glenwood High (Chatham, Ill.) #48 on Law's Top 100
8. Eric Bitonti, SS, Aquinas (San Bernardino, Calif.) High #49 on Law's Top 100
9. Juaron Watts-Brown, RHP, Oklahoma State #54 on Law's Top 100
10. Teddy McGraw, RHP, Wake Forest #56 on Law's Top 100 * *(added - this guy may be a steal coming off of TJ. Saw him a couple times last year before he got the brace procedure. Filthy.)
A healthy McGraw would easily have gone in the first round this year, maybe in the top 20, as he was 93-96 mph last spring with a plus slider and at least an average changeup. He had Tommy John surgery in high school and required a second surgery on the elbow this spring where he received an internal brace on the ligament, rather than the full ligament replacement surgery known colloquially as Tommy John. His slider was just filthy as recently as last summer, in the low 80s with very sharp, late break, looking like someone was using a remote control from the bench to make it turn at the last second. The changeup is definitely a third pitch, maybe a little too firm relative to the fastball, but he does sell it well, and the fastball is lively enough that hitters geared up for it and would swing over the top of the change. His arm might be a tiny bit late, but I wouldn’t even call it a beige flag, and his injury was probably just a function of a really fast arm pumping mid-90s and some bad luck. I don’t know how teams will choose to value him given the history, but I think someone will roll the dice on this stuff, even with the surgeries and grade-45 control. (I am hoping to do a podcast with him so I can call it The Law and Teddy McGraw.)

Who are the top seniors available? I have a feeling they’ll go that route in either round 3 or round 4 to come up with some extra money for Zanetello

If Zanetello got 2.5 million, then we can pay for that with the 5% overage you're allowed, plus going senior sign in the 5th round.
They could then still squeeze in $1.5 million for a HS guy in the third if they really want to, but that would be the end of the fun for the draft.

McGraw or Witt with the next pick would be very nice, maybe straight slot picks there after but I’d say that would mean we at the very least have 3 legit prospects from this draft

Where’s that 2.5 from? The only discussion I saw was the debate in his threat about the Nats’ 2.14 slot vs the Sox’s 1.7 slot. His statement that his floor went up (meaning what he told the Nats it would take at 40) may or may not relate to those two slot values, but if I were to guess it would be closer to Nats’ slot than $2.5. But we’re all guessing at this point. As you say, let’s hope there’s some additional money available for today.

So the point of this website is to talk about stuff BUT it feels like there's almost no point in talking about someone like Teddy McGraw. If the Red Sox medical staff has the info they need and are comfortable with picking him, it's a great pick. If they have the info and aren't comfortable with picking him, it wouldn't be a great pick. Normally when discussing a prospect the stuff that would make it a good or bad pick is at least on some level accessible info (especially when it comes to college kids). But the medical information and the expertise needed to correctly interpret it is completely inaccessible.

When we're dealing with college pitchers, drafting Teel certainly isn't going to hurt the Sox case.

Those two lists also both have Maui Ahuna in their top 10 left. So some consensus on some of these guys.

Every year we under-estimate how much money the Red Sox have left to spend or over-estimate what it will take for these guys to sign. For these next 4 picks the Red Sox will likely have exact dollar figures and deals in place with the guys they pick. There are not a ton of sliders or significant over-slot guys, so I think we will continue to see kind of the "Best Available Signable" players picked with the next four picks, then in rounds 5-8/9 they can save a little bit of money to take one more swing in round 9/10 like last year.
I personally don't expect them to try and pick college seniors with their next couple picks. I think we will see two college and two high school players to round out the next two rounds and then the college seniors the next few rounds. I am excited about the haul they can land today.

I remember about 10 years ago after a good friend of mine opened up a baseball training facility in town he had Teddy in to give some instructions (he must've been in middle school at the time). I remember watching him pitch a little and thinking this kid's arm is electric, so I wasn't too surprised to see him go D-I to Wake or see him highly regarded by many of the draft experts this year. I'll definitely be rooting for him wherever he goes, but it would be even better if the Sox selected him.

Some of you may recall in year's past, I am a big lover of college pitching and like to list some names on day 2 that I've followed through out their season's summer leagues, and careers in general. Some really intriguing college pitchers out there.
TJ guys: Wyatt Crowell- LHP FSU this spring Grayson Hitt- LHP Alabama this spring Tanner Witt- RHP Texas last winter, back pitching Ryan Brown- RHP Ball St this spring Tedy McGraw- RHP Wake Forest this spring Jack Mahoney RHP South Carolina last spring, back pitching Luke Fox-LHP Duke this spring
Good stuff, requisite pitch mix, but command issues/concerns: Carlson Reed- RHP West Virgina (3 really good pitches, but big command issues, still a huge upside pick) Ryan Bruno- LHP Stanford Patrick Reilly- RHP Vanderbilt Alejandro Rosario- RHP Miami(FL) Cam Brown- RHP TCU Andrew Lindsey RHP Tennessee Ross Dunn- LHP ASU Juron Watts-Brown- Oklahoma St (Long Beach xfer, former teammate with '22 11th rounder Marques Johnson) Jaden Woods- LHP Georgia
Almost positive a RP: Nigel Belgrave- RHP Maryland (Auburn, MA native) Simon Miller RHP UTSA George Klassan RHP MInnesota
Intriguing stuff, pop-up/helium types without big track record of success or small school type guys I really like, but def some RP risk: Kade Morris- RHP Nevada John West- RHP Boston College ( Coleman Picard- RHP Bryant Kiefer Lord- RHP Washington (one of the draft's best FBs) Hunter Owen- LHP Vanderbilt (Portland, ME native) Tanner Hall- RHP Southern Miss (one of the draft's best changeups, former teammates of '22 draftees Dalton Rogers and Caleb Ramsey) Logan Van Treek- LHP Lipscomb (one of the draft's best sweepers) Jay Driver- RHP Harvard Nick Judice- RHP LA Monroe Levi Wells- RHP Texas St Matt Duffy- RHP Canisius Hayden Durke LHP Rice (not great results this summer but realy good spin rate data)
SR Signs? Henry Leake RHP Boston College Chris Flynn RHP Boston College Jack Metzger RHP Dartmouth Justin Bayens- RHP Maine

Fangraphs has him as a 45 FV prospect and ranked 13th in the Orioles' system.

Braylon Wimmer is a potential senior sign. He’s got good size and athletic enough to be brought up as a utility guy having played in the IF and OF a little.

Should have included him on the list. Sun Belt is a strong conference, and fun follow. Has a chance to move really quickly as a RP. The profile from the size, to pitch mix reminds me of a right handed Dalton Rogers, with prob a tick or two better stuff, so a team might dream on starting him, esp with those 3 pitches.

But will try and give as much as possible as we go along with any college hitters too, def some interesting names there too. BC 1B Joe Vetrano (I personally think he's a better prospect than Honeyman) being one to watch.

The pitcher I’m looking forward to today is Lebarron Johnson from Texas he may have some sign ability questions since he redshirted his freshman year but still will be interested to see if he goes highish today.
