Fascinating. It was rough towards the end, but the Hernandez era was at least interesting.

This is the second biggest trade of a utilityman between the Red Sox and Dodgers in MLB history (miss you, Nick)

Praise the sweet lord baby Jesus!!! The fiasco is finally over. Now the best players we have to play the middle infield can play every night, Kiké can get a reset back in LA (I do wish him the best, he was larger than life in the 2021 ALCS for us). And John Schreiber is opening, which is the best possible move Cora could have made. It's a joyous day haha

Very bittersweet. And I won't be shocked if he plays well fro LA in the proper role

Awesome trade!!!!!
Oh yeah, who'd the Sox get? Ah, does it even matter? It's still a great trade.

Kiké not working out this season is such a bummer to me. He was the biggest advocate of the team all offseason, helped recruit Turner and Jansen and finally got the opportunity he'd been hoping for his whole career to be a starting short stop. Then he played worse than he ever has in his entire career, gotta hurt.

My guess is he was close to a DFA, so the Dodgers jumped the line. Sox eat majority of contract, Dodgers sent back a PTBNL?

In all seriousness, there will be a lot of joy in seeing him go from this fanbase (myself included - the team needed to move on), but his 2021 season/postseason alone makes him a pretty excellent addition, IMO. Obviously didn't come close to working out this year but I understood re-signing him and I will do my best to separate the sour past few months from everything else and appreciate the run he had when he was borderline untouchable.

Kiké was awesome in 2021. His body failed him in 2022. Plugging him in at SS this year was a huge blunder by the org. I would expect him to be a decent player going forward as an OF.

If the Dodgers take all his salary, the Sox will have more room under the cap to work with.

This was the best possible outcome for everyone involved, in my view. No DFA (Bloom), all the chatter put to rest and can count on a stable plan for the middle infield until Story comes back (Cora/Red Sox players), and a new start for a Red Sox who had one of the best ALCS' in team history two years ago (Kiké Hernandez).

If the Dodgers take all his salary, the Sox will have more room under the cap to work with. This is really my main hope in the trade, just ditch the salary to make some more wiggle room under the LT. $10M salary for this year but at this point in the year doing some quick math there's about 38 percent of the year left so they could save about $3.8M if the Dodgers just take the contract. That could make a pretty good difference in the type(s) of players/contracts they could look to pull in elsewhere.

Honestly if the Dodgers pay half the salary and send a PTBNL it's probably fine

The back end of the Dodgers' FG prospect list is littered with lower minor guys who throw absolute gas, eat some salary and throw in one of them for good measure and I'm heading home happy.

Wonder if there is any chance Bloom could send something with Kiké and snake Gavin Lux out of there? He did mention wanting a left hitting middle infielder. Lux hasn't played at all this year and is still on his way back from ACL surgery.
