Hat tip to gregblossersbelly for the thread title inspiration. Hoping Sale is strong for 3 innings plus. Any word on the amount of time Mayer will be out? Hope no more than 15

Story homers again. That’s his third one since he got to Worcester.

Sale 1st inning: 2 K and a pop up But he’s topping out at 93 mph on his 4-seamer. Maybe he’s working on command and control? At least this is what I’m hoping for.

Yeah honestly, glove side command of his fastball is the most important for him. Even if he’s throwing 91, he can be effective if he’s locating inside to righties. But his velocity has always fluctuated. I’d take him over Jacques any day lol

Dean follows up his best start of the season by failing to get out of the first. Tough season for him

Jackson Holliday is murdering us
He might be a little bit of a problem in the AL East. At least he's rich enough to not be tempted to sign a team friendly 12 year contract.

Rafaela missed his 6th in 6 by about 6 inches. Another opposite field line drive bullet. Just barely made it into 2nd base.

Ceddanne is 3 for 5 with a double (328/1067) but he struck out once and failed to draw a base on balls....back to Portland with him.
ETA: If a guy is going to have a 320 obp I'd rather have him hitting 280 with fewer walks than 250 with an average BB%

We’re not talking enough about the fact that Blaze Jordan is a 20 year old with a .754 OPS despite a very low BABIP and a single digit strikeout rate.

If he is such a wild swinger, why does anyone ever throw him a strike? I keep hearing that this undisciplined approach is going to catch up with him. Well, he only has one level left to fall on his face. I thought by AAA the pitchers were pretty sophisticated.

I thought about starting a thread of most dissed list and my first two were Rafaela and Jordan (with Yorke a possible third based on how readily some posters are to trade him away). It is still an open question as to whether PCA will actually be better than the sum of Nick and Blaze.

The flyout to CF was well hit. Story with a double and HR by the way and Dalbec also homered.

Jordan is seemingly starting to adapt to AA much more rapidly than Marcelo is. His problem is that he is blocked by Casas except as the short side of a platoon, and the team isn't going to put him in a position like that any time in the foreseeable future. At every level he is going to need at--bats.

Shugart is going to hate Meyer. Either that or he's trying to get Rafaela another AB.

"Sale’s velocity in the outing was off some, with his four-seam fastball averaging just 91.7 mph, while topping out at 93.5 mph. He also mixed in 15 sliders and 12 changeups and a handful of two-seam fastballs. It may have been that Sale was dialing back purposely with his fastball, having averaged 95.4. mph in his last rehab outing for Worcester." www.masslive.com/redsox/2023/08/chris-sale-sharp-in-what-could-be-final-tuneup-before-rejoining-red-sox.html

He has now hit 3 home runs in his short time in AAA and he still thinks he isn't ready to play in the majors? Isn't this the guy who was so anxious to get back he wanted to dh for a month? The season is slipping away and now he isn't going to play until Thursday at the earliest. I do not get it.

I'm pretty sure that only Story knows what he feels like the day after playing a game. I would rather trust his judgement than risk a major setback.
