What the hell is Story's story? He has now hit 3 home runs in his short time in AAA and he still thinks he isn't ready to play in the majors? Isn't this the guy who was so anxious to get back he wanted to dh for a month? The season is slipping away and now he isn't going to play until Thursday at the earliest. I do not get it. I'm pretty sure that only Story knows what he feels like the day after playing a game. I would rather trust his judgement than risk a major setback. Cora said that general fatigue is what is preventing him from joining the big team sooner.

Makes sense, he did have major surgery Nah I’m gonna go with all the armchair MDs on here who have diagnosed him with being soft and/or indifferent to the team’s success

Baseball is such a skill sport that if your mechanics are off by a centimeter a homerun becomes a flyout, good contact becomes a weak ground ball or a swing and a miss etc etc etc.
So yes, you could be really tough and play through the pain. But how often do we see really good players struggle for sometimes an entire year and it comes to light that he was playing hurt.
In a sport like baseball were literally millimeters matter, playing hurt is just stupid. This is why it makes zero sense to compare these guys to hockey players or football players etc. If I'm a 300 lb lineman and I break my toe in the middle of the game I still weight 300 lbs. It's different. It's different on so many levels.
If a guy is hurt, let him heal.
