Cespedes out again - he played game 1 of the doubleheader on Saturday and has now missed three straight games.

Do we expect Perales to pitch to Teel today?

It will be fun to see Anthony and Teel mash together in Greenville. Next season’s Portland lineup is shaping up to be a juggernaut — Mayer, Anthony, Teel, Jordan and Hickey 😮💨

I can't imagine he gets enough ABs this year that they'd advance him next year to start. Greenville has 30 games left plus playoffs. He'll probably catch ~20 and DH another 5?

It's possible but they'll need to balance getting a third catcher sufficient playing time there with getting Hickey work behind the plate. I could see him starting in Portland for that reason.

Hmm, I see Hickey is up to 9 CS's now. Didn't he go like 0-35 or something on throwing out base-stealers to begin the year? Now he's 9 for 84. Improvement!

Fwiw, I only recall one of the 3 SB he allowed in the two games I saw over the weekend, but that one was on Coffey, not Hickey. Runner got a huge jump.
FWIW, even as high as Double-A this year, a stolen base is fait accompli with some guys. Like when Rosier got on first it was given he was swiping second, and while a 70 runner he's not necessarily Billy Hamilton either. 0-fer was bad and he needs to improve but the environment has changed.

I should have noted that this is more or less what I imagine Portland’s lineup will look like by next June-ish.

I am very much looking forward to the clips of Perales getting strikeouts on high fastballs later. That pitch is absurd.

Kyle Teel catching and batting second for Greenville this evening. May this be the start of a longterm relationship that makes a Tesla Megapack seem like an ordinary battery.* * I accept my fate if this gets me banned.

Looks like Marvin Alcantara was promoted to Salem. FCL is not overloaded with priority shortstops. Makes me think they want to play Zanetello every day there. He hasn't played the OF yet.
Luis Ravelo probably squeezed now after a really struggling with the bat the last couple months.

Looks like Marvin Alcantara was promoted to Salem. Good sign that they're seemingly not worried by the less than stellar offensive production but also, where is he going to play? All of the infield spots are pretty full outside of maybe first base, but he's not going to play there. I know you can rotate guys around, just seems like a surprise to throw him into a crowded group.

Might be a sign that they don’t really prioritize him right now given the down year tbh He’s not strong enough to impact the ball in the complex league yet, i very much doubt he’s truly ready for full season ball

Wikelman starting for Portland. Dammit Jim! I missed that because of the developmental list juggling they're doing. MLB owners just have no understanding and no for the wide ranging effects of their limits on the number of player on the domestic reserve list.

Eh, there's Zanetello, Anderson, Campbell. I definitely wouldn't say there isn't anyone else there who needs SS playing time. Looks like Marvin Alcantara was promoted to Salem. All of the infield spots are pretty full outside of maybe first base, but he's not going to play there. I know you can rotate guys around, just seems like a surprise to throw him into a crowded group. They can use the DH. Salazar has played a lot of 1B. Coffey and Ravelo might be gassed at this point of the year, which happens with first full season guys.

Hickey should start next year in AAA, no? It's possible but they'll need to balance getting a third catcher sufficient playing time there with getting Hickey work behind the plate. I could see him starting in Portland for that reason. Where does Stephen Scott stand in the mix? His numbers this year in Portland and Worcester seem decent, and it feels like he can mash.

Having a 3rd Catcher (outside of Scott whose already there) would be overthinking it, imo.
