Obviously, everyone here listens religiously to our podcast ( ) , but there are plenty of other podcast-listening hours in the day. Drop your recs here! I've recently picked up A History of Rock Music in 500 Songs, an unbelievably ambitious project that the host is about halfway through. Incredibly deep dive that, for context, doesn't even get to Bill Haley until episode 20. 500songs.com/

One of my interests besides baseball is history and specifically military history.
I very much enjoy and regularly listen to The Jocko Podcast. Jocko Willinck is a retired Navy SEAL officer with his own fascinating personal history and distinguished combat record. He was was well-known SEAL sniper Chris Kyle’s commanding officer. He has authored several books himself, he runs multiple businesses and is a black belt in Brazilian ju jitsu.
His podcast delves into military history from ancient to modern and frequently ties in practical leadership lessons from that. He is an outstanding interviewer and a deep thinker. It isn’t a “history” podcast, but he regularly interviews those who have written military memoirs. If you are interested in the topic of leadership, this is a “must listen “.

Continuing the history theme, I've really enjoyed the Hardcore History podcast. He also focuses on military history, with his most recently wrapped up series being on the War in the Pacific (which came in handy when debriefing Oppenheimer) and he's just begun a series on the Vikings. They're long, but only come out once or twice a year so it's manageable.

I second Hardcore History! For those of you into sci-fi, I thought Solar was excellent. www.solarthepodcast.com/I also find myself coming back to the Ezra Klein Show frequently. Ezra invites experts on to discuss interesting and relevant topics. www.nytimes.com/column/ezra-klein-podcastBeyond that, I listen to a bunch of foreign language podcasts in part for practice and in part because they're good entertainment. For the francophones out there, Podcast Science is one of my favorites. They discuss a wide array of scientific topics and invite experts on to speak about their fields of study. The linked episode on the physics of Interstellar was super interesting and what originally hooked me. www.podcastscience.fm/emission/2014/11/30/podcast-science-195-interstellar/

If you like some buddies just ragging on each other and coming up with dumb competitions or ideas, the F**kFace podcast is a RIOT. Named (and spelled exactly as written) after the infamous Billy Ripken baseball card, they go through phases of focusing sports and card collecting, apples, their own personal F-ups, desk waffles, video games, bath naps, travel stories, etc. They have their own language after 3 years and counting. The first 20 episodes are a little uneven, but they hit their stride and it's a must-listen every week for me.
The Big Picture is a fun but more pretentious look at the movies; their movie drafts are the most fun, when they draft from a particular year, actor or genre.

Great health podcast hosted by epidemiologists - "This Podcast will Kill You" - in depth dives into many confounding diseases. Quite excellent, many fascinating.
