Best strike zone judgement for Abreu? That is exciting. He’s been super impressive so far in his cup of coffee. A combination of power and discipline is mouthwatering.

It was one of the major pubs

So what exactly is the knock on Yorke? Is it his range or his arm? Because this assessment certainly boosts his floor, as well as his value if they opt to package him in a trade for an elite starter.

If Yorke is an average fielding 2nd or better that certainly boosts his floor. I was always of the impression he was slightly below average at the position and thus would have to hit well in order to be an ML caliber guy.
Seems his bat is still his calling card but if he can be above average fielding then that would certainly lessen the onus on his bat to carry him completely.

The other takeaway here is that there seems to be a swath of good defensive development taking place throughout the system. Without the benefit of seeing all the other categories, it would seem that our area of strength is in the non-hitting side of thing. After the recent stretch of brutal defensive years on the big club, this is a welcome development.

The Yorke comment had me looking at possible comps, and if he's an average defensive player, or even just a little below (rather than a Valdez-esque hole) he only has to be around an average hitter to be a really valuable guy (like 2.5+ WAR). Starting to think we've been under-valuing him a little around here lately (anecdotally he seems to be everyone's favorite to include in trade proposals).

These are voted on by league managers, as disclaimed in each link. Every year, they're very suspect.
I wouldn't put a whole lot of stock in them.
Edit: Consider that the Eastern, South Atlantic, and Carolina Leagues are 12 teams each and do not play balanced schedules. It's very possible you could win Best something with 2 or 3 votes. I think they used to do the complexes but stopped because those leagues don't even play outside their pods.
