I'd give him the extra $640,000 we failed to spend on the rest of his class.
Body type wise he's more of a 3B down the line. Other than him and Arias the class seems mild.

This is a weird complaint because if they had just given Cespedes that extra 640K originally you wouldn't be saying anything. Besides that if Cespedes and Arias are good that's a really solid IFA class.

Seems a whole lot early to be making sweeping statements like that Yeah, especially with pitchers. Monegro was a 2019 signing. He didn't really show much prior to this year. Perales was a 2019 signing as well and didn't really show much until his 2nd season. It's really hard to predict how 17 year old pitchers will develop. Or which will develop. This year, the Sox signed 24 pitchers (15 positional players) in IFA to contracts at 75k or less. I wouldn't bet on any of them individually to add velocity, but as a group I think it's pretty close to a given that at least one will. There really haven't been any emerging hitters from that 2019 class but there's still hope for Castro, Asigen, Rosario and a few others. Outside of Rafaela in 2017, I can't think of any hitter that really emerged out of nowhere. They've had a bunch of arms, though. On the other hand, they've signed considerably less positional players to deals under $75k the last few years. 2023: 24 pitchers/15 positional 2022: 15/8 2021: 12/6 2019-20: 12/10 2018: 14/14 2017: 39/27 2016: 2/0

At this point last year none of us were talking about Johanfran Garcia and now he's top 20 here. Literally ignore DSL stats. FCL probably too.

I'm also looking forward to watching Franklin Arias.
This will be argued but Zanetello may be better off beginning in the FCL on May 4. I'd like him get his confidence up high and the warmer weather may also be a better way for him to begin his 1st full season.

Not really sure where to ask this query, but seeming as Yoeilin will most likely be the main attraction of the FCL squad this year (and I can't find a dedicated FCL thread), I'll go here. Does anyone know how accurate the roster projections for the FCL team on the site is at this point in the season? Would they wait to announce further roster cuts around that level until right before their season starts on 5-4, or will it be more gradual? I am obviously super excited for stateside reports on Cespedes and Arias like everyone else, but I'm also interested to hear if anyone is standing out amongst guys like Chansol Lee, Batista, Bates, Polanco, etc.

I'd guess the projection we have is pretty accurate. We know who was in the US in minor league camp and... well... let's call the other guys who'd be coming up from the DSL a very educated guess.
