The funny part is the Cowboys haven't won a championship since Jimmy Johnson built that Cowboys team. Yeah I was thinking maybe Jones smartens up for the best coach in football history.

I don't know Jerry but I might surmise:
1) he likes control; 2) he likes credit/glory;
Winning with Bill would be like winning with Jimmy. He doesn't like winning enough to eschew the glory.

Cowboys- Keeping McCarthy Eagles - Keeping Sirianni Falcons - two interviews, but also interviewed Harbaugh and Vrable Chargers - Within striking distance of signing Harbaugh Titans - Signing Brian Callahan Raiders - Keeping Antonio Pierce Commanders - Dan Quinn and Raheem Morris have second interviews scheduled
Bill's not having a great time in free agency. Very limited interest in his services.

I guess age and a pathetic last season has its downfalls.

I guess age and a pathetic last season has its downfalls. Remember when people said Kraft would be an idiot to fire Bill and then no one really showed interest in hiring him? To be clear, I think he ends up in Atlanta, but they're the only team that shown any real interest and even then they appear to be interested in other options.

There is "real interest" & there is "reported interest," or even "reported real interest." I don't know how a fan could discern what level of interest there is in BB without possessing intimate contacts (Bertie Breer aint that).

He's only reportedly met with 1 team and everyone else are filling their positions. Even the one team that interviewed him twice is bringing in other candidates. There's been nothing suggesting Bill is picking his spot. If the Falcons go elsewhere, he might not have a job.

Perhaps it’s Bill who has limited interest.

Perhaps it’s Bill who has limited interest. Possible, but I doubt it based on there's no one from his camp suggesting as much at this time. Kraft in the presser was saying how Bill was going to be coaching and will do great, but so far 1 location has interviewed him and they brought in real candidates to interview as an alternative. I think if the Falcons pass on him then there's a very likely chance Bill isn't coaching. I don't think that would be by his own choice. Who else is left after Atlanta? Brady went through a similar situation and it worked out for him and the team, but it was shocking the little interest he was getting.

Perhaps it’s Bill who has limited interest. One of the "NFL Insiders" (I forget which one) said that very thing on Twitter recently. Said several teams had reached out (quietly) but were quickly told BB had no interest.

Bill Simmons is reporting members of the Falcons FO do not want Bill because they're in, "survival mode".

It’s not all surprising he wouldn’t care to coach in Washington or San Diego. Disasters of a franchise.

It’s possible that Bill isn’t hired by anyone. If that happens, his kids would probably remain with the Pats. That’s fine by me. Our strengths last year were on the defensive side. That would let them concentrate on the offense. Lots of high draft capital and lots of money to sign free agents. Could be a very interesting year.

Washington, Carolina seem like no-gos for Bill because of their ownership Las Vegas had a good internal candidate and just fired Belichick lite Tennessee fired a coach who wanted more say or more credit than he was getting Seahawks could have just kept their in-house old-guy legend if that's what they wanted If I were him I'd have been interested in LAC even with cap challenges since they have a QB and a few other blue chippers. So that's two options if you include the Falcons.
Without the Eagles, Cowboys, or Bills there really weren't that many fits to start. Obviously those teams chose to stay with their coaches knowing BB was available, so they kind of chose against him.

Jim Harbaugh is the most sought after coach currently and all indicators are he's likely to sign with LAC. I think that's a much better situation than Atlanta. I think it's possible some teams might have been interested, but Bill wants to have control that they don't want to give up. I can't believe it was always Atlanta or bust for Bill. Mike Lombardi is an example of a Bill mouth piece over the years. This was the guy who said you'd have to be an idiot to take DK Metcalf over N'Keal Harry in the draft. There's no murmurs or anything. Instead, it's consistently teams are just not that interested in bill theathletic.com/5219468/2024/01/23/atlanta-falcons-coaching-search-belichick/

I feel like this coaching cycle is like TB12 and Lamar Jackson's free agencies. Too many teams are happy to stand pat and will regret it 6 weeks into the season

Unless the Bills fire Sean McDermott, if Vrabel (or whomever) gets the Falcons job Bill isn't coaching next season or likely ever again. Not how I expected this off-season to go.

I do wonder if Belichick/Carroll/Vrabel become real options when someone DOES get fired on Week 6 or whatever. Be a really hard gig, but I guess it's possible. They claimed for years that Cohwer would come down from the Studio to coach.
