I think Romy might just be pretty good This past off season I wanted Yu Chang in that position. Is why I'm not a GM.

Bernardino didn't have to be ghost runner, even though he was on the lineup. A special rule to make baseball more perverse. Every game is now an exhibition game.
If Wong had scored in the previous inning, he could have scored twice with only one plate appearance.

Kenley Jansen has a 2.45 ERA and 2.59 FIP, but also has the highest walk rate of his career (5.52 BB/9). In the first 5 games of 2024, he allowed 7 walks. In his last 10 games (dating back to 4/14) he has allowed only 2 walks. Kudos to that washed delinquent who is mean to small children and animals for getting that under control.

I (as a fan or if I was in management) would not want one of my pitchers hurt running the base because of the ghost runner rule. MLB used their head for once and do not make pitchers ghost runners!

Honestly, the rule that you lose the DH if your DH needs to move into the field feels incredibly outdated to me.

Honestly, the rule that you lose the DH if your DH needs to move into the field feels incredibly outdated to me. Especially with benches at 4 position players. At the onset of the DH era, the pitcher/ position player ratio was more like 9 or 10 to 15 or 16.

My 8-year-old is starting to really get into baseball. This is his first year of machine-pitch and he's asking to go play catch or have me pitch to him every spare moment we have. However, he hadn't actually expressed interest in watching it (which is fine)... until last night when I turned on the game in the top of the 10th. He was SO excited when the Sox escaped the jam. He went to bed after the bottom of the 10th, but I think I may have a buddy for games now. ![:)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/smiley.png) (Don't worry, we're Central Time Zone, so it wasn't THAT late for a school night.)

Treasure it. I have an 11 year old. He's playing and enjoying little league but I cannot get him to watch a game with me. He likes the Red Sox but other than him catching the ending of the 2021 ALDS against Tampa (Kiké series winning sac fly), he has not watched any baseball. He was too young to remember 2018, although he does remember Brandon Phillip's, number zero's only Red Sox HR which dramatically helped the Sox to beat the Braves one day in Sep 2018. But with the Red Sox stuck in mediocrity for most of his memory the Sox arent compelling enough for him to choose to watch the games rather than play on the computer or watch YouTube videos. I'm worried he'll never really get into the Sox. It would be nice to have my son to watch games with but I'm afraid it's not going to happen. I wanted to wake him up on a Sunday night at 11pm when he was 6 so that he could witness the Red Sox winning the World Series but his mom put the kibosh on that idea and it never happened. I keep thinking if it did maybe the Red Sox would resonate with him more. Ultimately you can't force it. They enjoy what they enjoy. Treasure your game watching with your son time.

My son is 25 now, and we still call each other after each game and talk Sox. Lifetime worth of memories, in 2004 he was 6 years old, and I let him watch the Series against the Cardinals with me (who knew when they would ever win it all again), anyhow the day of game 4 he is talking with his cousin and I hear him say "I've been waiting my whole life for the Red Sox to win the World Series", a literal laugh out loud moment for me.

This is exactly what I did. My two boys (6yo & 8yo at the time) were sleeping and I woke them up. I had no idea if it would ever happen again. That night they witnessed the Red Sox winning the World Series and their father crying like a baby!

My mom was more into the Red Sox/baseball than my dad was - but, he was always down to play catch or, later on, catch me off a mound with a lot less gear than he should have been wearing. 30/45 grade control.
Just wanted to offer that even if you only have sporadic Red Sox centric moments or game watching with your kids, some of those moments will stick, and they might not even be especially important moments in terms of what’s going on in the game or the playoffs or etc.
The first game I can remember hearing or watching was in his driveway where household names like “Steve Rodriguez” and “Tuffy Rhodes” made appearances. Also, I remember watching a game with him that Matt Stairs batted in. We had fish sticks that night, so sixteen years later, as I’m playing in a fantasy league named in honor of Matt Stairs, all I can think of is fish sticks.
Totally irrelevant moments in a season more forgotten than not, despite a brief playoff appearance. I really appreciate that he made the effort. Ultimately, it’s having dinner with dad on the couch that’s the memory, and the game is just sort of the soundtrack to being a kid.

Romy or Hamilton are a better choice than Grissom right now. I am glad Cora is changing it up a little.

Romy or Hamilton are a better choice than Grissom right now. I am glad Cora is changing it up a little. Hamilton is about the worst choice Cora could make aside from digging up a dead body to play. Dude has no situational awareness, can’t hit, can’t throw, and shouldn’t be here. I am always miffed by people who want to keep him around even as a pinch runner. He doesn’t know what to do with his speed and is too tentative. He should have been released.

Last night's ump only missed four calls in a 12-inning game, and only one of those was truly bad. We need robots because many of the umps stink, but if more of them called games like this most people would be just fine with the human element.

I still have nightmares of him missing touching second base on what should have been a double play.

Hamilton rates as an elite baserunner and has been a much better hitter than Grissom (though still definitely he's been a bad hitter), and his defense has been bad but no where near unplayable Kiké or Reyes level. I think he gets way too much hate on here.
