TO, as they call him on St. Louis TV, was miked-up with them prior to his plate appearance.
They seemed happy for him when he launched, wondered, perhaps rhetorically, if he'd be back for his next AB.

My response to scotty was going to be around “do projections really change that much with only 8 weeks of data”, but you already hit on it in the following post. It looks like they do. Ill add my post was also probably a bit biased future looking. As in what Duran is doing looks sustainable to me, what Crawford and Houck are doing slightly less so, but even if they regress from this place they’re still going to look good. For them the stuff metrics seem to support it too. Devers didn’t take much adjusting to get over a 4.0 projection. If these guys fall off then yeah much less rosy looking. Something they still don’t look like they have to me is one of the elite elite like MVP caliber guys, but of course no one projects that way until they do it, and it’s not inconceivable for Devers or Casas to make it there. Houck and Crawford are on track on the pitching side right now and if they do somehow make it through the year up there then maybe that piece changes. Yeah, I like a lot of these players. Top 50 player with downballot MVP votes hits the market.. If he’s an OF… where would we play him?? We already have Duran, Rafaela and Abreu with Anthony on the way If he’s a middle infielder… where would we play him?? We already have Story, Grissom, five bench guys, and Mayer on the way Etc etc Not arguing to push half the incumbent team out, just that I don’t think the roster is at a point where we have 20 roster spots already penciled in, so therefore the criteria of who is “worth” acquiring needs to be very narrow.

Cooper and Romy should always play over Smith

Lots of whiffs and pull side grounders from Grissom lately. He's struggling AND pressing.

People often lump the players who have played poorly together as one collective problem, all about equal in issue. But the gap between Cooper and Smith, and the one between Hamilton and Grissom, has been (after today so far) about the size of the gap between Jarren Duran and Aaron Judge.
It makes a huge difference having replacement level players vs far below replacement level players. I don’t think Smith should ever see the field barring injury and I’d rather he just not be on the roster in that case.

Pivetta is just filth today If things keep trending the way they currently are, there’s gonna be a hell of a decision to be made on Pivetta in a couple of months. He is exactly the type of guy you want to build into a rotation, but if he is shoving like this, he is also too valuable of an asset to not sell off to a playoff contender. Similar scenario unfolding with TON as well.

It amuses me that the Sox are up 4-0 in the fourth inning yet are still somehow 1-10 w/RISP.

Romy with 103.4 mph lineout in the 2nd then the 111.3 mph double. Guy has been insane. Don't forget he was slugging .700 in Worcester

Tomorrow might be better. NBA time now. Game is being televised on Roku Channel so many of use won't be able to see it anyway without subscribing (not me) I have AppleTV, Netflix, Hulu, ESPN+, Prime, Disney, Max. I also still have cable. Cannot watch this game though.

If Nick is back to his normal self, there's no way I'm trading him. He's the veteran and anchor of the pitching staff. And TON? Let's wait and see. I hope we're in Wild Card contention by the trading deadline.

With that lucky bloop hit we may never get Smith out of the lineup

I wasn’t able to watch the first half of the game and was listening on the radio. When Tyler O’Neill hit his home run earlier, did he stare at Oli Marmol the entire time he was trotting the bases?
