Just a solid game overall in every area.
Crawford/Burns tomorrow, should be fun.

That was a big boy job. Only 5 but it meant more.

Nice to handle the O's -in what seems like years- with P and an offense. Speaking of hitting ... I'm losing patience with the 1b / 2b additions, below the Mendoza line numbers.

Random thought, but was looking at Rafaela and first off it's nice to see him move towards replacement level. He's gained like 0.5 WAR in a couple weeks since playing more CF despite not hitting well yet. He's at 2 OAA there in 231 innings, or like +12 for the year. I looked at the plays and he has a couple 5% catch probabilities that hit off his glove too, could easily be even better (especially when you add in the couple mental lapses that lead to drops on like 99% plays). I'm thinking he's gonna be fine, I'd just keep him in center.

It seems that t may have at least given Hamilton a breather and a chance to reset at SS after his (Hamilton's) disastrous start there. It also appears that C-Dan is slowly adjusting to MLB pitching and regardless someone has to bat 9th and there are probably worse options with less upside in that spot throughout the league. (And yes, he's still my binky even if he's no longer officially a prospect).

I do not know the date he started his batting average increase from .140ish to his current .210ish rise, but his May has to look a lot better than April.

I agree, plus the kid just has a knack for being in the middle of everything. Whether it's starting a rally, using his legs to take an extra base, hitting with sneaky power or making an eye-opening play in the field. I have to say, I wasn't a big believer, very lukewarm on the bat and the extension, but he's turned my opinion over time, he's just a solid ball-player. If he could just stay out of negative counts, he could cut the K's, if he can do that he'll have a job for a long time.

I don't know if anyone else noticed and I don't have a screenshot of it, but Rafaela 100% was rocking an adjusted batting stance last night. Normally his hands are held high and the bat is angled horizontally and wrapped behind his head, yesterday his hands were a little more out in front of his body and the bat was pointed more vertically.
Something to watch to see if he continues with that. While the numbers haven't been great so it could be worth trying something new, I'm also skeptical and fear mid-season stance adjustments can just mess you up further (remember Duran going with a different stance seemingly every other day when he was called up and couldn't hit anything?).
Think it's safer to stick with what you know and what was working for you for the last few years and make bigger adjustments in the off-season if you think you need to.

Looks like pretty ugly weather in Baltimore presently - any whispers about whether the game is likely to start on time?

If he could just stay out of negative counts, he could cut the K's, if he can do that he'll have a job for a long time. One thing I've noticed is in an attempt to control his aggression he seems to take some very hittable pitches early in counts and then expands a little too much later in counts. I know the Sox have preached patience to him, but I wonder if some of their preaching has made him more apprehensive to swing aggressively at some of the cookies he is seeing? I'm not a huge fan of Fatse, and I wonder why we kept him after cleaning house in several other areas. Seeing this team makes me opine for Walt Hriniak.

I feel like tonight is a gravy game. Pretty happy to not get swept at Camden. Hopefully the boys play loose (not like four errors loose).
