Is it me or isn't there really a way to signal which post are new on a given thread?

That has been my biggest annoyance as well. The best way to combat this is to click on the word "New" next to the topic title. It will warp you to the oldest unread post. Not perfect, but it works.

Buttons on the collar? Urg. C'mon, Chris. I typically don't like them either, but I've got an odd size (16.5, 36, iirc) and have to take what I can get sometimes.

I find it difficult to tell if something is linked on the board, especially if it is within the run of the text. It is harder and also annoying to link with the code you have to use too. Did anyone notice that I linked the home page to the word "linked" above before they read this? I could only tell when I ran the cursor on it.

Hi, Chris. They show up clearly on my Android phone, underlined in blue. I'll check from a desktop next.

... and this is from a desktop. You're right about the links being impossible to make out. They only show up when you hover over the linked text, with an overline and and underline for highlighting. Not real intuitive. That should be a recommendation to ProBoards, that the default for a link be shown in a different color, and with underlining if possible, as it is from a mobile device.

Yeah, I'm also bugged by the link non-highlighting thing.
One other thing that bugs me is the way it inserts the "read more at..." link whenever you copy and paste text. It's pointless since 99% of the time that I copy something from a post, I'm pasting into another post that I'm writing, so the link is essentially "read more about this at the same exact page that you're looking at right now!". And to do this it needs some weird javascript thing running in the background so it adds some level of overhead. And, I just find it kind of jenky. I've been using copy and past for 20+ years now and I know how it's supposed to work-- "copy" applies to what I've highlighted, nothing more and nothing less. So it really bothers me when a website breaks that very basic functionality.

The whole UX is kinda bunk. But, I'm an ass about that.

Chris, I'm reposting this from another thread. It answers your question about getting highlighting onto links (in whatever color you want): Edit: Figured out how to get some color on a link. Wrap the Colors attribute around the words that will point to the link (off to the right up there in the Add Tags menu. Finally, embed the whole thing as the text in a url. Below is the link to the page that has the details on building a url (see the section titled Insert Hyperlink). Read more: Add style and formatting to your posts with BBCode

Not obvious to me how to modify your profile; the directions provided by ProBoards don't seem to work (where do I see/click Modify Profile?). Suggestions? Thanks.

There's a "Profile" button at the top of the page. Click that and then there's a "Modify Profile" link at the top of your profile.
