Sea Dogs put up a touchdown in the 2nd inning. Campbell missrd a homerun by about a foot with an rbi double to center. Wikelman looking good so far. Bad bounces leading to only run given up so far.

Wikelman has been wilder in the last couple of innings. I don't know if it is related to the comebacker in the 2nd, but lots of walks and HBPs in last couple of innings. But not a lot of great contact at least.

4.1IP 7H 7R 3BB 1K 3HBP for Wikelman. No way the sugarcoat the season he is having For those who have seen him -- does he look injured? Has his stuff backed up? Or maybe more just mental for him, and he needs a mental break to give a chance to get back going. I feel like sometimes when the stats get out of whack and they see numbers getting harder and harder to fix -- sometimes a kid needs a break and a chance to reset. Injured or not -- I hope he gets a break to take some pressure off.

Mayer replaced at shortstop by Fraymi De Leon in the 8th inning. Mayer had singled and moved to second on a Campbell single in the bottom of the 7th.

I wonder what the organization really thinks about Yorke? Is he in there long term plans or are they simply waiting for the right deal to come along?

Injured or not -- I hope he gets a break to take some pressure off. Today he didn't give up loud contact. The first run, a comebacker ricocheted off Wikelman for infield single. Then the runner scored from first on a bloop single to rf. His real problem in this game was the walks and HBPs. He also isn't getting the whiffs. Working backwards from the lack of swing and miss, I think he is working the perimeter of the strike zone and just missing with pitches. Despite the HBPs, he wasn't particularly wild. He wasn't in the dirt, the catcher wasn't having a problem with receiving the pitches. Doesn't seem to be injury related, as he looked comfortable in warm-ups and didn't even get visited after the comebacker. Maybe it is overthinking or trying to be too fine with pitches, but he isn't attacking the strike zone and is not getting away with the base runners from the walks. I haven't been watching him particularly closely this year, but if your ERA is going to be 7+, I'd rather see the runs earned with hits instead of walks.

I think it's heavily tied to their opinion on Vaughan Grissom... (I'm still bullish but certainly not an ideal start to his Boston tenure.) Hope Yorke keeps slugging and putting the ball in play like he has been lately either way, the K's being under 20% this year is a great sign IMO.

After he set down the first two hitters of the 4th, on one pitch each, I thought maybe he would show that he can bounce back. Then the inning unraveled badly from there and he gives up 4 runs and never gets the 3rd out. I have watched him live twice now and have not been impressed. Three hit batters is just not excusable. He looked looser and more comfortable on the mound today, but he just seems like he is throwing vs. pitching. He did not look injured today. He did look lost though.

Sounds like he should maybe go fishing for a bit to clear his head. AFL is there if he needs more innings when he comes back, but the HBP/BB counts are very high. If he is not hurt, and they cannot convince him to attack the zone, I hope they give him some space/help for a bit to decompress. Sometimes these kids just feel the weight of the world on them. He has shown talent at this level. Hope he can reset for his own sake.
