If I had to cast a vote as to who sucks more tonight, the HP umpire or the ESPN announcers, I'm not sure which way I'd go. After the Little Raffy HR, one of the announcers said CB1 must be proud because the young guys he brought in are killing. Little Raffy and Kutter came into the org under D-Dom. Ditto for AS Duran and Houck. Big Raffy was in the org pre-D-Dom but D-Dom deserves big-time credit for holding onto him. I'm not trying to get another pointless Taste Great!-Less Filling! debate going on D-Dom and Bloom. I'm just commenting on the buffoonery of the ESPN guys. People always say this about Dombrowski in regards to Devers, but I thought I remembered hearing that he gave the White Sox their choice of either Devers or Moncada and they just chose wrong Hmmm, maybe you're right and I'm just buying the oft-repeated narrative.

Great road trip Red Sox, you’ve been road Warriors all season long! Now can you please start winning at Fenway?

Good series. Got the As next, can't afford a let down series vs them with a big series vs KC heading into the break.

The story Dombrowski tells is it was a choice of Benintendi or Moncada (who were the top two in the system), then they wanted Kopech, then they wanted Devers on top of that and he said no at that point. This isn’t really all that impressive a choice. If they had asked for Devers instead of Moncada he would have done that. Add: do agree the ESPN guys were terrible and just seemingly super lazy with their prep

In the category of which one is different, everyone on the Yankee stadium HR list had long AL careers except one (so far).
Isn't it great to have a Yankee killer signed to a long term contract.

I`ve been out on Jansen since he was signed. I have finally come around on him. Sorry Kenley.

Approaching the AS break in significantly better shape than I expected - thrilled with the youth on the team, different heroes all the time, how Rafaela has settled in, how Raffy is smacking the ball, Duran of course, and so much more. Baseball in Boston feels fun again - the team seems connected and cohesive.

If Rafaela had only played centerfield this year he might be ROY favorite right now, that draft pick would be nice. I’m hoping he can maybe steal it anyways off of shiny counting stats and defensive reputation / excitement factor, but I think voters take WAR too seriously at this point for that to happen.

Turned out that 14-4 win for the Yankees was their F-it game. I call games like that under those circumstances F-it games because after losing and losing and losing, and not scoring as many runs as they normally or should do, and being completely frustrated, teams have those games where their bats explode and they kick the crap out of their opponents.
The funny thing about F-it games is that the next day the team, fresh off clobbering their opponent, will lose 2-1 or in this case 3-0. No, I don't have stats to back that up. Just years of observations. Glad it happened to the Skankees, who are now under .600 for the first time in an awfully long time, perhaps all season?
Crawford was great - not sure why he was pulled so quickly but Slaten and Jansen (I think he deserved to be an all-star much more this season than last year) did the job and the Yankees were plagued by Rafael(a)s all series long.
Great series. They're now about almost half way done with the Yankees this year. Now let's see if the Sox can get to 10 games over .500.

It’s great having different guys step up each game picking each other up. Abreu, O’Neill and Connor have cooled off a bit and now Masa, Raffy, Ceddanne are winning the games

What an amazing outing from Kutter Crawford. Great series win. He may never pitch a better game. 7 innings on 68 Pitches and no walks. When does that happen anymore?

Just a quick take on the team status with 6 games until the break. Hoping Tanner and Winck can have their improvement starts - otherwise the starting pitching is in OK shape. Weissert is scary in the pen, and Anderson, Horn and Booser are a bit scary too - we need Martin back. Maybe Mata can provide something.
Wong, Valdez, Abreu and even Duran have cooled a bit - but even Reese got a few hits recently. There is a lot riding on some really young players, but so far so good.
Can they add an arm and a bat at the deadline? Casas is apparently 75% there (whatever that means) - but it won't be too long.

I get why you didn’t go for it but it would’ve been fun to see if Crawford could throw a Maddux today

Reason they pulled Crawford so early is to keep his pitch count down. Eye test has shown that if Cora gives him rest and only lets him pitch max 80 pitches, he’s more effective.

Ultimately he's going to have to learn how to be able to get through 20 more pitches. The outing he had today, he should be able to go 9 with that low a pitch count/inning. Maybe he isnt there yet but that's another step he will need to learn to take. Houck has taken that step.

They're pretty much never going to let Crawford finish a close game they want to win with great relievers rested and ready to go
