Yoshida's at a 97 wRC+ this year, obviously he needs to hit a lot better than that to justify his contract being a DH only, but it feels like it's been worse. He's only a couple hot weeks away from having a totally fine looking line on the year. 100, league average, woohoo

Chase Anderson playing w/ the DFA fire, huh? I was about to say his changeup has looked really, really sharp, and then he got that call against Andujar. Thank God he settled down. Exactly what you want from your 3 inning closer lol.

shutouts are always nice. and 7 runs doesn't stink either.
We will crush KC and they will start checking the oil and tuning up the duck boats during the AS break.

WTF ? NESN cut off the MASA post game interview for commercials. LOL. No respect, I tell ya ! Demote that producer and send him back for re-training.

Houck is our homegrown Ace, Masa is stroking, worried about Raffy’s shoulder, Wong is a top 5 catcher, Abreu is back, and Ceddanne went O-3 without a strikeout. Tomorrow is Friday. The Cubbies smoked the O’s. It is summer. Life is pretty solid, y’all.

He's only a couple hot weeks away from having a totally fine looking line on the year. On the flipside if you remove the few weeks when he was injured but still playing from the equation he's gotta be above 100 wRC+. Hopefully he's able to continue his performance the last month or so into the 2nd half. Exactly. Some on the site have been shortsighted about the player. He showed what he was capable of through a good part of last season. He's had the hand injury this year and now he looks like he's back hitting and not much mileage so far. No reason he can't keep it going.

For a guy who’s a 36 year old mop up guy… has Chase Anderson had one outing yet with a large lead that he’s screwed up to the extent that they’ve had to send in somebody else? (Or the cardinal sin - getting Kenley warming when it’s a blowout...) I would imagine Chase gets DFA’d for Mata soon, which is more than justifiable - just hope the guy whose control is notoriously fickle can throw strikes in a 7-0 game

And the MFY lose! Now 3.5 back of them in the standings and incredibly now just 5.5 back of the 1st place O’s which seems just as remarkable.

Anyone know what was the lowest water mark in the standings behind 1st place? NESN was saying it’s the closest it’s been since like May 15th or thereabouts Found a way to look it up on BRef and on June 11th (first game of the Phillies series), they were 14 games back of the MFY (O’s were 2.5 back). Simply remarkable that 8.5 games have been made up on the 1st place spot in one month.

Masa back in the groove makes the lineup so much deeper. And just as a fan, it's been so refreshing lately to feel optimistic when he comes up to bat.

Sox were 14 games back on June 11th, 12th and 14th. Pretty crazy how much they cut the deficit in less than a month!

The back end of the bullpen is pretty rested:Kenley and Slaten haven’t pitched since Sunday, Bernie since Saturday: Kelly has pitched once this week, which was a 7 pitch outing on Tuesday.
Cora is usually cautious when it comes to deploying his best bullpen arms while behind (i.e. down 1 or 2 in the late innings) to avoid burning them when you might need them for games where you have the lead. For this upcoming series against the Royals, between the importance of the matchup, the rested state of the top dogs in the pen, and the All Star Break on the other side, would have to imagine he’ll be more aggressive in close games with those arms

Wong/Yoshida/Abreu really carried them offensively, damn.
