On the flipside if you remove the few weeks when he was injured but still playing from the equation he's gotta be above 100 wRC+. Hopefully he's able to continue his performance the last month or so into the 2nd half. Exactly. Some on the site have been shortsighted about the player. He showed what he was capable of through a good part of last season. He's had the hand injury this year and now he looks like he's back hitting and not much mileage so far. No reason he can't keep it going. Fans should give more consideration to the effect of injuries. Yes it's annoying when a player is banged up but in the lineup and not producing. Would players be better off if they made a lot of excuses and cried to the press? Anyhow glad to Yoshida healthy as there's no way that guy isn't a professional hitter.

Chase Anderson's nice job tonight sent me to look at his season overall.
He's been lit up 7 times. He's given up no runs 13 times - also 4 innings with 1 run and 3 innings with 1 run.
Of his ineffective performances, 1 was mop up in a blow out win, 1 was an inning in shutout loss, he took the loss in one, giving up 5 runs in a 6-4 loss, one was giving up 3 in a 10-6 loss, 1 was giving up 2 in 3 innings in an 8-3 loss, and the most recent giving up 5 in the 14-4 loss to the MFY.
He really has earned a place on this staff and been very useful in saving the pen. 15 of his appearances have been for multiple innings.

Seriously, a whole generation of humans has born since the Sox went more than six years without winning a World Series. This regular season is as good as pointless. Fuel the duck boats.

The bad outing in the 6-4 loss was a start or basically a start iirc too, so an unusual spot for him to be in this season. He’s done his job for sure- if they want to give Mata a shot I would like them to demote one of the 1 inning guys and let Mata be a 1 inning guy

Just got in from Longlegs. Wong/Yoshida/Abreu really carried them offensively, damn. Houck is ace How was it? No spoilers please because I’m a huge Nic Cage fan, I’m dying to see that movie.

I’ll just say this- if you’re a huge Cage fan (like myself) you need to go see it ASAP so nothing gets ruined for you. Movie is genuinely unsettling, very good tho

Generally wondering if everyone still wants to give up on Yoshida? Felt that way here a few weeks ago.

Not winning since 2018 is a lot different than 86 years after 1918. Neither of my parents witnessed a championship. I'm likely not the only one that can say that.

If you were born this millennium, this is the longest in your life you've gone without watching the Red Sox win.

Yoshida's at a 97 wRC+ this year, obviously he needs to hit a lot better than that to justify his contract being a DH only, but it feels like it's been worse. He's only a couple hot weeks away from having a totally fine looking line on the year. On the flipside if you remove the few weeks when he was injured but still playing from the equation he's gotta be above 100 wRC+. Hopefully he's able to continue his performance the last month or so into the 2nd half. Outside of his first 9 games coming off the IL he has a 126 wRC+ this season.

Generally wondering if everyone still wants to give up on Yoshida? Felt that way here a few weeks ago. That's a bit hyperbolic, no? Btw, my answer (mythical "then" & now): N O
