As I was thinking about whether the Sox might be working to avoid burning options for 4 infielders this year (Romy, Sogard, Grissom, Hamilton), I was digging for options info on each. Not sure if it makes sense to try to track any of the following on the site, or where it all might be tracked, but maybe at least the first one could be implemented? Maybe some of them already exist here on the site?
- Highlight (bold, italic, whatever) option number on 40-man page once a player has burned an option this season. Mentally, that option is gone, even though it's not by rule.
- how to keep track of number of days in the minors vis-a-vis options? This might be really tough to implement.
- related, could all of a players transactions for the year appear on their SoxProspects page? Again, maybe not worth the effort to implement, but would be an alternative to #2 above.
- how to keep track of number of days in minors vis-a-vis next call-up after option (not as important since we're only looking at most recent option/transaction)
