Tarp is out in Syracuse. Not raining very much, so still expecting this game to get started.

I'm sure there will be some spin, but that is a real negative evaluation on Grissom. They are playing high leverage games and Nick Sogard is getting lots of time at 2B. A negative evalution of him right this instant because of the residual effects of his injuries/illness/etc. Doesn't change his long term upside once those health issues are resolved. That's about the best one can realistically do. Also realistic - Sox cannot head into winter penciling him as the starting 2B for 2025. I think they are also looking ahead to a major league roster with both casas and dom smith on it as soon as this weekend. A roster with those two and Yoshida can’t hold a 2nd base only player. I would bet we see Grissom once the rosters expand.

I'm a big backer of Grissom and still believe he will hit, but at this point I think it's the right move to make.
He never really had a spring training. He was not healthy when he was playing and he looked quite rusty. Then he got injured again. Playing a week or two of rehab games and then forcing him onto the roster wasnt going to help anybody. Let him get a hundred plus ABs and build back up, get healthy, and prepare him for 2025 and hopefully he seizes the job because if he doesnt it's just a matter of time before Campbell might be forcing his way up and he is RH and can play 2b.
I just dont think anybody saw the real Grissom this year. The guy hit well everywhere in the minors. No reason a healthy Grissom cant do that in the majors too.

Re Grissom, this is what I expected them to do. It's not a negative on his future in the Sox org.

I'm not so sure it's a negative assessment on grissom. My thoughts are he has missed basically the whole season and he needs all the PT he can get. On a fully healthy sox team he's probably not an every day player at this juncture so perhaps some negative assessment involved in it now that I think of it but probably not a big deal. I think it's setting him up to succeed potentially long term at the cost of the Short term needs. I don't think it really reflects on him, he hasn't been healthy at all since spring really, and even when he was, he was at 50% strength due to losing so much weight. Sogard et all are good enough to allow him this breather rather than forcing him into a position where his likelihood of success is minimal. I'd rather he get healthy, go into a full offseason of conditioning, and come back guns blazing tbh. That doesn't mean anything is automatic or given to him, but I don't think we've seen the version of Grissom that made Breslow want to trade for him to begin with yet. The Sox short term needs does not include Grissom at all. He`s not an upgrade anywhere right now. Maybe in a few weeks.

We get to see a guy passed over by Boston in round #2 last year when yet another middle IF was taken. Forget he throws (and has in 1st inning already) 100mph and is a top SP prospect. He's just not a middle infielder..

Seven strikeouts in back-to-back games for Fitts.

He's just not a middle infielder.. The Mets have reworked Sproat's delivery with a heavy emphasis on changing what was a mediocre fastball despite its good velocity. That's how it goes - sometimes the other guy makes a massive adjustment and a huge step forwards and your guy doesn't. Thems the breaks, but it's not like this is the guy Sproat was coming into the draft.

Fortunate to get to my first 2024 Sea Dog game yesterday a 4-2 win over a poor Altoona team (25 games under .500)..
Hunter Dobbins started and gave up 8 hits in 4 1/3... It appeared that his breaking ball was most effective after his FB got popped in the first two innings despite 94-96 and topping out at 97.
Of the big 4, only saw Teel which was disappointing. Teel was 0-2 with 2 walks but threw a pea to cut down an attempted base stealer at second.
Rosier was 1-3 but had 2 hard line outs. Jordan had a line single to center and a long line drive caught near the right center field fence. I'm surprised that he only has 7 Portland dingers based on his history.
Sikes exudes confidence at the plate.
