The Patriots came out week one and looked like a well coached team. That's impressive and a huge thing for Mayes development. A huge win buys them time to stick with Brissett and it's a good thing. Going from what we watched in preseason to what we watched versus Bengals shows good coaching is happening. I'm still not convinced they have the right players starting at WR. While Osborn and Thornton showed you something, it wasn't much against a bad D, that was playing the run. Hooper impressed as a good solid #2 TE. The passing game is very much a work in progress and needs to get vertical or things will get worse. I'm also disappointed no Boutte or Baker, plus not much Polk either. They get another favorable match up, Seahawks weren't good on D last year. Hooper seemed more athletic than I expected him to be at this point in his career I like Baker a lot as a prospect but I think I’d give Boutte a look first. It seems like the Pats want Baker to work on his professionalism Yeah Boutte is likely more ready, practice player of the week. It's just Baker skill set is what this offense needs. Maybe he needs some time, but we need that deep threat that can make plays on 50-50 balls. Boutte, Baker, Thornton, Polk, someone needs to take the top off the D and get them out of playing extra guys in the box.

Problem with the Seattle matchup is their corners are great so they can likely load the box and not worry about our receivers doing much damage.

I thought the pass blocking was bad in week 1. Jacoby almost got killed a couple of times, and that was off bootlegs and play-actions after 6 yard runs. Hopefully they can give him some time to work through progressions in week 2.

Keion White looks like Reggie’s little nephew. He moves freaky for a man that size.

Lowe was a bit better than I expected but was still poor.

Should the Pats kick the tires on Haason Reddick? He is a good pass rusher. Run defense is borderline ok. He's 2 years younger than Judon and unlike Judon he played last year. We got a 3rd for Judon. At this point in the season the Jets are not getting a 3rd for Reddick. Especially if he refuse to play this year without a new contract. It might be hard to say unless you know what he is asking for.

Tua needs to retired. Glad he got some real good money before it came to this, but he can’t keep doing this

I’ve never seen a QB put themselves in such bad positions before. It’s especially bad because he's on the smaller side.
Got another fencing response. That’s so scary. Got an immediate pit in my stomach watching that and I very much dislike the dolphins
Legitimately worried we will watch him die if he keeps playing

Ted Johnson was the first one I remember talking about the long term concussion effects, how he just "wasn't there" for a very long time even after his playing career ended. And that's a safer outcome than many others (Kellen Windslow II is in the news trying to get reduced sentence for his horrific crimes in part due to his claims of 100 concussions). Retire, dude. I just know he won't.

I just know he won't. Nothing will shock me but my guess is he does. He contemplated it before and that was when he hadn’t gotten paid yet. Now he will walk away with well over $100m earned. That’s an entirely different decision factor. He’s got generational wealth now. Before he had enough to live a solid life off of if he managed it right.

FWIW - Evan Washburn (CBS Sports) is reporting that Maye is getting "30% of the first team reps" during the week. How exact/accurate that is remains to be seen (and we may never actually see/know until/unless the Patriots come out and say it). That being said, we probably need to ignore the normal/right way to do things when guessing what the Pats are doing. Mostly bc it comes with the BIG caveat that NE is doing what's best for the long-term. Mayo just confirmed the 30% approximation

It's just a catch 22 that goes around in circles. No offensive line is going to be good in today's NFL running that much without deep passes to open things up. It's why that offense of being so run heavy includes tons of deep passes. Without the deep passes were back to Mac Jones crap. So do whatever you need to do, but start taking shots. Otherwise you'll have to start switching things up on offense.
Seahawks had those two CBs last year and were 21st in attempts and yards on pass D, while being bottom 3 in rushing D. So there's holes in that teams pass D, be it extra CB, safeties or LBers.

Tua needs to retired. Glad he got some real good money before it came to this, but he can’t keep doing this It was such a bad and reckless play by him. It’s a shame. In college he would string out plays like he was in a monster truck rally. He still does. It’s really sad because he’s a pretty talented thrower.

Maybe, but reckless or not that wasn’t a big collision so it’s pretty irrelevant. It shows he’s way more susceptible to a concussion than other players. There is no way to play the sport and protect yourself from that type of collision. Meaning severity. That was a very mundane play.

While I certainly don't want Dolphins to do well, I would love to see Zappe running that offense.
BTW after looking into Tua contract, I'm amazed that all the guaranteed money is fully protected in case of injury at that level. Everyone knew he was one more concussion from potentially being done and the kicker, he's still on his rookie level deal. He might get almost 200 million and never play a day on the extension.

Everything I've seen it is what doctors say, if not cleared to play and he retires he gets every penny. If cleared to play and retires he only gets the 40 plus million he already got. The problem with that, there's no way multiple doctors won't rule he shouldn't play, even if some say he can. So if he retires, he'll get most if not every penny. 3 concussions in such a short period of time is rather serious.
