Or maybe it's a 51-51 chance?

Plenty of Sox players are candidates to be shut down, if team can get themselves eliminated.
Which WooSox players should get the call next week?
Sims ... just activated P Garcia ... expected this weekend Grissom ... maybe before Mon. Gasper ... burns an option on 27th P Priester 40 ... pitching for WOR Sat P Alexander non-40 ... pitching for WOR Sun? P Yohan non-40 P Shugart 40 Dalbec non-40 P Mata 60-day ... looks like he's done for year

Who is getting shut down to the degree they're getting put on the IL? I could see guys getting more off days for sure, but I don't think they're going to just put like 6 guys on the IL.
They're definitely not adding people who aren't on the 40-man roster at this point, that's for sure.
Only question might be if they activate Grissom after a strong finish, but are you moving Rafaela to the bench to do that?

Just tell Rafaela next time he swings at a pitch in the LH batter's box or in the dirt he sits

I count at least 7 guys who are "hurtin'".
It might be outlandish to option Crawford or Bello after their last start. Or Casas.

If guys are playing every day right now, I don't think they're hurt enough that shutting them down for the last 10 games or whatever is going to happen. Like I said, they might get off days, but they're not gonna just shut them down entirely, at least not a big group of them. Maybe they get Priester a start or something at the end, and maybe they call up Grissom, but I think you're way overthinking this.

Roman Anthony with a 1-1 and 4 BBs stat line tonight. Not your typical way to a 3.000 OPS.

Roman has played RF 5 times all year (if my calculations are correct), although 4 have been since he was promoted to AAA. I think he's more likely to the LF next year based on that. But I haven't seen him play and cannot speak to his defense (esp. arm) in RF. I assume he could be decent at either corner, but the playing time indicates they like him better in LF. That might change if they sign Soto.

Looks like Devers is probably getting shut down after the loss, so that'll bring Gasper back. Garcia pushes a reliever off. My guess is that's it (was thinking Ref when talking about Grissom yesterday. Not sure why I didn't just say it.)
