Playoff vintage, only now Swayman isn't bailing us out tonight.

We need Sway bad - 4 goals against and the first isn't yet done Well, on the bright side, we got one goal? Lindholm also getting his first point as a Bruin... 4-1 after 1 though, we got more shots as the period went on, but how do you get outshot 12-1 and be down 2-0, then proceed to outshoot them 11-5, and be down 4-1... this Panthers team we just match up so badly with, which is weird considering we play the same kind of hockey. They do what we want to do, but better, it's frustrating. edit: this PK is great, which is going to come in clutch if we're not going to keep taking these penalties... also damnit Coyle, you were so close!

If your last name is Lindholm (both), McAvoy, Beecher, Koepke, Zacha... and Kastelic maybe for the cool fight, if your name is not on that list, you did not play well tonight. Also the Lohrei-Carlo pair... woof, break that up immediately.

And it sounds like McAvoy (admittedly I didn't get to see the game) was highly complicit in one of the goals for Florida.

Too many goals allowed by the net front, I’m sure he was involved in some of that. Lohrei looked like a disaster to me, that pairing with Carlo was unplayable Korpisalo wasn’t good by any stretch but he wasn’t 6 goals bad

Offense looks weak (Poitras should help when healthy, Lysell should help when called up, but still not super strong), and I saw the same problem from last spring where we were trying to prove we were as tough as Panthers and taking undisciplined penalties. Admittedly opening vs the defending champs on banner raising night isn't the easiest start and I was mostly watching playoff baseball after the early 4-0 deficit, hopefully they look better vs a pretty weak Montreal team at home tonight.

Always good dropping 6 on the habs
Gotta clean up our own end
Thought the bottom 6 was terrific, nice to see Elias and Zadorov with a couple points each. They may have found something with Koepke

Much, much better game tonight.
- Don't break up that fourth line, they are great! I might move Beecher to center over Kastelic, but honestly, overall, no issues there. Koepke deserves mention for his play as well. - Defense... a bit of a mixed bag? Offensively, they were on point, but the defense still isn't great. Brandon Carlo is starting very slow and we need him to get on track. - Elias Lindholm continues to impress for me, is he going to get the 164 points he's on pace for? No. But I think he could have a huge bounceback season. - That second line... I really hope the plan is to put Poitras at RW because I do not want to see Geekie on that line anymore.

Early returns on Elias are good
Poitras back today and he looks like a star in the making imo…just has to stay healthy. Savardian pass that almost led to a goal (the sequence ended up drawing a penalty)

Is there a world where you could do Marchand-Poitras-Coyle as your second line? Obviously the idea has been to put him on the right, but I don't think it hurts the team to give it a shot, plus Marchand mentioned enjoying playing with Poitras last preseason.

I'd rather have Coyle at C. Ideally, he and Poitras switch if/when MP proves capable of centering L2.
I also don't think it's ideal to pack top 2 lines and make l3 and l4 meh. I know you don't like Geekie there but I personally don't think he's fine as a compliment. What I don't know if he's better as a C or RW.

Is it a developable skill not to fall down on your goalie or kick his leg and put the puck in the net? Poitras and Lindholm could use some work on developing that skill so we don't lose games because of it.

I've notice some things about the B'S. First im not seeing as much screening the goalie like in the past. I think they skate into the other teams end they always go in the corners. I dont mind this but its too much. One more thing in the other teams end always giving it to the defenseman in the top of the zone. A team like the Panthers are not going to make it through. Shots at the top of the zone. They get blocked. I dont mind this just too much of it.
This one is nitpicking I admit it. sometimes its too much holding the puck or passing. I like more shots.
Finally I really think a Fabian Lysell could help. They just need a another scorer.Someone with a scorers touch. But I expect this there a little turnover. That 4th goal the Panthers got killed me. I know the season just started but these remarks are also carryover from last season. I love his team and C's are getting going too.

Potentially seeing some line changes tonight as Jim McBride reporting that Max Jones and Riley Tufte will be the wingers on the 3rd line (centered by Poitras). He says to look for Frederic to move up to RW with Marchand and Coyle. Geekie and Brazeau are out.
Of course, this would suggest L1 and L4 remain as is.

Poitras is the best option to give you the potential to have 3 lines that can score. If you stack your top 6 forwards all on your top 2 lines, you get pretty easy to match up against for the better teams.
I wonder if Lysell would get more of a shot if Monty had an extension. Maybe less likely to tolerate mistakes with his job potentially on the line.

Korp is a terrible goalie. I'd rather release him and eat the money the way he's played so far this year.
(right after I posted that he turned it around for the rest of the game, but a couple of the goals he let in were extremely soft goals.)
