Native Portuguese speaker here.
It says his contract aims to "start activities" in 2026, but he's already under the organization's tutelage in defining scheduling, tournaments and development. It's not mentioned but think this is because of the Lei Pelé.
He says he needs to gain weight and velocity.
Other than that it's just a story on how he got to play baseball and be where he is.

Interesting, good find. Highest bonus last year for a pitcher leaguewide was 800k, so probably doesn't represent a huge bonus. Dalvinson Reyes was actually top ten

That seems exciting. His pitching motion looks nice and simple. Gonna be a good 5 years before we know if it's a good signing but I like the gamble.

Teams are allowed to come to terms with a kid that young?

Teams are allowed to come to terms with a kid that young? Yes, and sometimes younger. It's a remarkably corrupt and flawed system.

The only solution MLB has come up with is an international draft but it needs to be collectively bargained and the players haven't accepted it yet because the main reason owners want it is to slot international bonuses.

Another one for the Red Sox #2026 class. He could be considered one of the top ones in that class plays CF.
For the people that find this strange some teams are onto the 2028 class.

For the people that find this strange some teams are onto the 2028 class.2028 class, what're they signing players who look good in the LLWS? At this point I think it's in the best interest of everyone to start some sort of draft system. Probably doesn't fix the whole problem but something about the thought of teams trying to sign kids that young throws me off. Then again I guess there are plenty of stories about colleges recruiting guys in 7th-8th grade in the US so what's the difference.

The leaguewide track record on higher bonus international pitchers is not impressive, but man I'd love to see them add a couple of guys with some standout traits for mid-high six figure bonuses every year and then have them grow up in the Driveline lab

Yeah the track record league wide is not good thats why you don’t really see top bonuses for pitchers also teams aren’t as aggressive coming to “early agreements” with pitchers for I’d say obvious reasons. Will be interesting to see their pitching program work with a premium arm like this.

Looks like the post was deleted - it was another clip of Periera. He's 6'5 and throwing 88 already.

Would these count against 2026 or 2025?

Going by the date he has given for his U-18 lists they will probably be eligible right away so likely 2025 I asked him to clarify lets see if he responds.
Edit: After reading the story which should’ve been the first thing I did Rodriguez is 20 and Castillo 18 so yeah they should be eligible right away once cleared.
