These are the worst defensive rotations I’ve seen from the Celtics in over a year. Not sure why that is.

There’s gonna be a lot of games this year where they never get up to 5th gear and the opponent is playing like it’s their championship. That’s just the nature of being better and deeper than everyone else.

That’s just the nature of being better and deeper than everyone else. Regardless of results it was an entertaining game AND we were after all missing two All Stars and 40% of their starters. Just saying, keep it in perspective and losing an occasional game is good for the team too,keep 'em humble. |

Frustrating loss until you remember they didn’t have Jaylen or Porzingis.
But, for the love of god, they need to figure out their rotations. Golden State was carving them up with 1-2 passes, and it’s been a season-long issue for them so far. Those are not the types of habits you want to last into the new year.

Looks like Queta is in, and Tillman is out of the rotation. They need the defensive presence without KP so it's a good move. We will see if it continues when KP comes back or will Queta get lots of DNP after that.

It’s the same players so I’m confident they’ll get it down, but there is a lack of defensive focus and effort. I get that bombing threes is more fun than making crisp rotations, so maybe that’s just how their title hangover is manifesting.

The aggressive traps were giving us (and Tatum) a lot of trouble. KP's spacing would help immensely, JB would help too, but we still seemed sloppy on those. I thought it looked better when Jrue or White was the screener because they're better decision makers in the 4v3 and Tatum can get the pass to them easier over a shorter defender, hopefully something we can work on when we get an actual practice in.

I think they were worn down at the end, White and Tatum were launching hurried shots from bad spots. The Warriors played really physical and the Celtics just didn't have enough at the end. That also explains some truly terrible defense at the end.

They’ve struggled a bit against defensive physicality and ball pressure the last couple games. Lots of complaining to the refs and sloppiness with the ball. Tonight, the Nets are just out efforting them - on the boards, deflections, loose balls, etc.

(Of course, what is also true is that they’ve just missed threes.) The quality of 3s hasn’t been great. The ball movement hasn’t been there, and they’re getting very little movement down hill. It would also be nice if Hauser decided to show up this season. |
