Yet another credible source reports fifty-game suspensions are likely in the Biogenesis case: www.cbssports.com/mlb/blog/jon-heyman/22476749/suspensions-likely-as-mlb-starts-interviewing-players-in-biogenesis-probeAt least two of the implicated players, Everth Cabrera and Jhonny Peralta, are shortstops; the former for San Diego, and the latter for Detroit. (At least two catchers are also facing questions, Francisco Cervelli and Jesus Montero; but the former plays for the Yankees, whom we'll never trade with, and the latter is injured, having a disappointing season, and plays for Seattle, who is out of contention.) Right now, San Diego is two games back in the NL West, and Detroit is leading the AL Central. Should their starting shortstops be suspended, they could be great trade partners for Boston by the deadline. Any thoughts about who we could get for Drew, or even Iglesias? Are there other possible trades made more likely by Biogenesis?

I wouldn't want to offer Detroit any SS help unless they over paid. I'm talking about Nick Castellanos. If I'm dealing a SS its to an NL team and I'd hope to get the Brewers involved to get a prospect going back to make Aramis Ramerez. A little cheaper on our end. Send Drew to either Pitts or Cincy with a prospect going back to the Brewers and throw in a Brentz or Britton type. I'd look into moving Ramerez to first next season.

That goof ball Detroit announcer earlier compared peralta to Hardy and said he should be inline for a GG award also. Not because of his range, but because he doesn't make any errors.
That guy is as bad as Hawk harrelson. Tigers fans must think every player they have is an AS performer, cause he sure makes them out to be and why go around to listen to various announcers to get different aspects that way. He's as tainted as Harrelson and the Rays Staats, as bad as it gets.

Say these suspensions happen and they offer Castellanos for Iggy, that's a no brainer right?

I wouldn't be so sure that the suspensions are handed down in 2013. MLB is in uncharted territory here. If the players are suspended they would be the first players under the drug policy to be suspended without a positive test for a banned substance. The MLBPA will obviously fight this as they well they should and MLB will have to tread lightly. The reports you are hearing reading are more Selig's and the media's wishful thinking that they can unilaterally suspend players based upon the word of a very questionable source. They had better have some sort of smoking gun before they suspend anyone, else they will be overturned.

Evidently there are more witnesses than Tony Bosch, and more of a paper trail than his notebook. I think this is more than wishful thinking. It should be an interesting legal battle.
