Jalen Williams and Jake Drehoff assigned to GCL. I'm calling shotgun on the Jalen Williams bandwagon.

Brandon Jacobs to Portland. Pushing him, kind of like they did with Renfroe to Salem last year? Jacobs has been hitting better of late and his contact has been for more XBH. May be finding out if he is going to be worth the 40 man spot or not this last 2 months.

Countermove is Matty J back to Salem. Also, as expected the Olivares paper move is undone, with Gerardo back to Greenville.

He has had a much better year than Jacobs and is also Rule 5 eligible.

Yes Jacobs. I so pumped for him. I think this season was a big test for this kid. I'm glad the Sox saw it that way.

It's not just about stats. This, plus the fact that Jacobs has actually been doing pretty well: Last 11 games, hit .410/.510/.718 with 6 doubles and 2 HR Since May 21, .291/.390/.517 with 13 2b and 7 hr in 43 games Also Jacobs had over 800 at-bats at that level, more than double De La Cruz.

Jacobs in CF for Portland.
EDIT: Not technically "starting" since they are resuming a June 25 game.

While Owens hasn't been bad tonight, Jason Parks doesn't seem to be overly impressed. twitter.com/ProfessorParks"Jason Parks ?@professorparks LHP Henry Owens stride is short for a guy standing 6'7"; landing divot on mound is closer to rubber than Luke Jackson's, who stands 6'2"." "Jason Parks ?@professorparks LHP Henry Owens working 89-92 early; arriving a bit soft but steep; showing a fading CH at 78-79; command not sharp. #RedSox" "Henry Owens working 88-90 in 3rd; touched 92; curveball looks poor; 72-74; flipped and without bite; CH still best offering at 78-79."

He has had a much better year than Jacobs and is also Rule 5 eligible. Seems a silly reason since neither has a chance to be added or picked in the R5D. Just because someone is eligible, doesn't mean they'd be added, though by not promoting KDLC, the Red Sox almost guarantee there is no chance he'll shine at AA and tempt someone. If someone wants to add Jacobs to an active roster for 2014, good luck with that... I like him, I picked him to have a great year, haven't given up on him but he'd be chewed up and spit out at MLB in 2014.

40 man is full. I'm sure there's another thread for it, but Almanzar is ahead of those two for spots, and even he may not make it (though I'd guess he will).
