I think he's a good fit if you believe he's going to be a 20 goal 60 point guy going forward, but yeah not at $8.5 million per season. If you could trade Ullmark and get him at 50% of his salary that would be a great move. Even at $5 to $6 million per. What the Bruins really need to do is stop trading future picks and rebuild the prospect pool. So trading Ullmark for prospect also makes sense if you get the right deal. I'm just not seeing enough on the FA Market to think Boston could trade him for prospects/picks and then go to market and bring in 2 Top 9 FA forwards. 1 (especially if you're bringing back JDB) maybe. But 2? Using Ullmark to accomplish that goal (so you don't have to trade any more picks) is probably the better solution.

As some of said in the other thread, better season than expected. Time to move on.
Biggest items on the "To do" list are:
Re-Sign Swayman Re-Sign or Replace Debrusk Trade Ullmark 1 more legit top 9 F MAYBE a Top 4 D (I think Lohrei is ready but depth is needed so why not "high end" depth)
They have about 21M in space. Sway and Debrusk (or his replacement) will eat up some. But still room to do stuff.
I also wonder if Geekie gets traded. Definitely a win for Sweeney on this one but, depending on what kind of F you get (is there a C available), Geekie could get squeezed (but bring value in trade) if Poitras, Coyle and Zacha (or another C that pushes Zacha to W) and Beecher are your top 4.
On Ullmark, I wonder if he'll get moved for prospects (creating more space) or a player (filling one of the needs above). For those that thought LA was the team he would've gotten traded to this deadline (though some thought it may have been Colorado), I have it in my head if was a deal involving Pierre-Luc Dubois. Probably not but they had plenty of C depth and needed a G. He seems like the most moveable of their players (especially if Boston, at the deadline, was trying to add to the team using Ullmark).

Mayo didn't say anything that isn't true for every rookie QB including Caleb Williams. The key to next season win total is basically the OL, until we get to camp and preseason to see how that is it's almost impossible to say how good they are. D has the a decent chance of being real good if Mayo is really good. Another unknown because Mayo was never even a defensive coordinator. Add in rookie WR being such an important piece, we could be looking at a top 10 pick or battling for a playoff spot. Long-term having the top 10 pick would likely be better to finish off building this team. Is it just me or do we need another RB?
I like Gibson a lot as a #2, but don't love our depth. If you consider how they are likely to be used, Gibson isn't even the #2 RB. He's the #1 3rd Down Back. That leaves Harris and the UDFA as the leading candidates. So, yeah. We need a guy.

My gut is that Osborn doesn't make the team if he's only WR5. If there are injuries or the young guys (Polk, Baker, even Douglas) aren't picking up the offense, that's likely where he fits.
Yes - I know he's supposedly a great locker room guy but I think he'd be looking for a better opportunity elsewhere if WR5 (likely inactive??).
His fate rests with the health of the WR group and the development of the youngsters. IMO.

Wasn't even considering JuJu bc o thought (and still do) consider him a candidate to move somehow.
TTs best chance is if Boutte is suspended to start and Bourne isn't healthy.
Osborne could also be a "sign him in case the draft/camp doesn't go as expected" type of deal

Polk, Baker, Douglas . . . and I'm the idiot who still thinks Tyquan Thornton could add something as a 4th WR (I'll never learn).
Of course, he's highly unlikely to make the team given he doesn't play special teams and has Bourne in front of him and additional competition from a decent KO returner (who has done as much if not more at WR) and another talented (albeit, potentially, troubled) young guy.
EDIT Maybe not HIGHLY but he has a climb.

Seems like they probably want to give reps to younger guys and if they need someone like McDermott later, either he or a reasonable replacement is likely available later.

Couple things on the WR topic:
- we have no idea how Bourne has recovered so a start on the PUP wouldn't be unheard of
- IIRC, a team can place players (2 max??) on IR during the final cut day and still have them eligible to return (previously, they'd have to make the initial 53).
Wouldn't surprise if they find a way to keep the majority in the org somehow.

Reiss saying NE had an offer to move up to 32 but Buffalo chose to deal with Carolina instead.
With Legette and Coleman going next before NE traded back, his assumption is that 1 of them was the target (and may have had both graded higher than Polk).

Most upsetting thing of the draft? Why did they pick a CB, should have went 100% offense! Lol 😆 Heard they might use him at RB (I did NOT actually hear that).

I guess Brugler thinks Milton could try TE if QB doesn't work out. Lol doesn't surprise me one bit, it's like nothing has changed since Bill left. Not sure if I'm misunderstanding you but I believe it was in his scouting report (ie not Patriot specific).

Speaking of "talking", upon being drafted by the Bears, punter Tory Taylor got a text from new teammate Caleb Williams saying "Hey, you're not gonna punt too much here".
The old guy in me says these guys talk too much. But there is another part of me that says "Good on ya!"
