Wow, I thought Boston media was tough. Blaming Chapman for Devers' HR is pretty absurd. It was a great pitch. I agree w/ you...seems they're under-playing Dever's execution, there, perhaps playing more toward's their narrative, or lack of knowledge regarding Devers' background, which would make the articles a compliment or sorts...

Funny Hurst being referenced here...had text w sibs about Clemens & Eck being "linked again" during game, and with all the lefties in the rotation, Eck gets to call, the texts revolved around Eck's career as a SP having ending w/ the Red Sox back in the early 80s?...
...how, at the time, I was excited as a Red Sox fan, being a "lefty", when they had a run of 3-4 years where they ran mostly w/ 3 LHP in their rotation, albeit w/ not so great team result...Tanana/Ojeda/Tudor, for a yr, then 2-3 yrs w/ young evolving Ojeda/Tudor/Hurst...
...w/ Hurst becoming the last lefty standing, as Clemens arrived, Eck's time as a SP ended...Eck wasn't even 30, as I recall?...
...and that he now gets to call games for another LHSP leaning team, having played w perhaps the last one? Have they had a rotation consisting of at least 3 LH, for a decent length of time, since that time?

mlbrulesproject.blogspot.com/2012/05/rule-310.htmlRule 3.10 (a) The home team shall be the sole judge as to whether a game shall not be started because of unsuitable weather conditions or the unfit condition of the playing field, except for the second game of a doubleheader. EXCEPTION: Any league may permanently authorize its president to suspend the application of this rule as to that league during the closing weeks of its championship season in order to assure that the championship is decided each year on its merits. When the postponement of, and possible failure to play, a game in the final series of a championship season between any two teams might affect the final standing of any club in the league, the president, on appeal from any league club, may assume the authority granted the home team by this rule. (b) The umpire-in-chief of the first game shall be the sole judge as to whether the second game of a doubleheader shall not be started because of unsuitable weather conditions or the unfit condition of the playing field."

As someone else pointed out, earlier, > the deal was announced, I especially like it, if it will help to get X going a bit better, with the bat, by getting him out of the line-up until that hand can stand up to a firm handshake, and his mind is in abetter place about it, where the drop in hitting isn't quite as severe, going to Marrero...
...and one never knows about vertigo...and we've plenty of drafts & International opps, between now and whenever the two prospects realize their potential, and appear in the bigs, if at all.

What about adding RPs...anyone know a bit more on this guy, who is apparently available, and wouldn't seem to profile as too costly - "After signing a minor league deal with a $900K base salary this offseason, the 31-year-old Swarzak has broken out with the best season of his career. In 48 1/3 innings with the South Siders, he’s averaged 9.7 K/9 against 2.4 BB/9 with a 40.5 percent ground-ball rate en route to a 2.23 ERA. The former second-round pick is averaging 94.5 mph on his heater this year and has posted a 14 percent swinging-strike rate that dwarfs his previous career-high of 10.6 percent. Swarzak’s 71.9 percent contact rate sits nearly six percentage points below the league average of 77.5 percent. Swarzak picked up the first save of his career in yesterday’s win over the Cubs, though his stint as the de facto closer in Chicago may not last all that long, as he’s a free agent at season’s end and is widely expected to be traded. The Brewers are known to be on the lookout for bullpen help, and Swarzak’s status as a rental and lack of a dominant track record should make him a reasonably affordable piece to acquire via trade, even with this year’s exceptional results." Never mind ![:)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/smiley.png) Dan Hayes of CSN Chicago reports (via Twitter) that the Brewers are sending outfield prospect Ryan Cordell to the White Sox in exchange for Swarzak. Cordell spent less than a full season in the Brewers’ system, as he’d previously been acquired as the player to be named later in last summer’s Jonathan Lucroy/Jeremy Jeffress trade with the Rangers.

As mentioned by the radio team, that was a grind, playing 50 innings of baseball, since 4pm Saturday! Wasn't it 57? may well be...didn't fact check, but yeah...three games book-ended by a 16 & 15 inning game, so yes, def more than "50". That's a lot of baseball in a bit under three and a half days

Mark Feisand -
Source: Tyler Clippard is part of the package that would head to the White Sox if/when the Robertson/Frazier/Kahnle deal is completed.
"Again, Kahnle is the piece of the deal that cost Yankees the most. White Sox were looking for "a big ask" for him according to an AL exec."

Would it be surprising if nothing got done tonight; that the reports were more to try to manipulate the involved teams, for a tidbit more after having them already submit what was thought to be their respective final offers?

Again this offense is so lame. The lack of clutch hitting is so damn aggravating. Nobody can step up and be THAT guy. YEAH...Where is Ted Bessell when you need him?

Considering how the Red Sox game started, 50 years ago, today, w/ Waslewski walking Aparicio & Snyder, is out of the game, with Santiago coming in and getting Paul Blair to hit into a triple play, and the Sox, led by Yaz/Boomer/Adiar, dropping a 4 spot in the bottom of the 1st, in an eventual 5-1 win... ...this one may be destined for an interesting ending. ![:)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/smiley.png) I'll happily take 2-1, here...however it comes! www.baseball-reference.com/boxes/BOS/BOS196707150.shtml

Why do I feel like most trades for relief pitchers have no impact on a team winning. Chapman obviously was a game changer for the Cubs but the vast majority of them turn out to do little or nothing. I wouldn't pay a big price Miller and Chapman were pretty much the main reasons why those two teams were in the WS last year. (off topic, jimed - your avatar, was "all over" the Impossible Dream hour long special on MLB Network, Sunday...did you catch that? Every time I saw certain celebratory video clips of Yaz during the special, kept thinking "jimed"! ![:)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/smiley.png) )

I know this last series was a downer, but just 2 teams won 50 games or more in the AL prior to the ASB: the Astros and your Red Sox. So life's still good and I honestly can't wait until Calm Eyes Farrell wins Manager of the Year just to see some meltdowns around here (: and NYY just lost! ![:)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/smiley.png)
