Per Alex Speier (from his and Tom Caron's new podcast "310 to Left"): Vaughn Grissom saw 61 fastballs on his Triple A rehab - he swung and missed twice. When is he coming up?

Yes and no. I mean, it was absolutely ridiculous how long it took for him to DFA Braiser. or does the fact that he was good immediately upon going to the Dodgers suggest the FO was right about him and the coaches were failing Neither here nor there, but they couldn’t have been “right” about him if they were not making the fix the Dodgers made. The FO and coaching staff ought to be on the same page. If they aren’t, it is as good a reason as any for firings.

Shutout for Sox staff. They keep rolling.
Oh, and some runs. Yeah, that might be the story, I guess.

I don't know about you guys but I really don't like those during game interviews But I do like Fergie emphasizing this is merely this guy’s *first* marriage. Probably just what the bride wants to hear from someone taking her fiancé out for a bachelor party.

Ok, look, man, I feel like my attitude has been pretty upbeat about the Sox this year, but….
The joke has gone far enough. These uniforms must be retired, by which I mean burned along with all records, photos, drawings, designs, etc.

I don’t for me Duran was/is a walking red flag He is a very poor mans Carl Crawford but with worse k rates and defense. Crawford fell off a cliff at 28-29. Duran doesn’t have much of a cliff to fall off other than what looks like a significant outlier year Yeah I’d much prefer he is the player of last year as his norm but I’m not going to talk myself into that. Pappyman99 officially off the train. Duly noted. I am not sure Carl Crawford is a comp for anyone, though. That was a complete mental flamout as much as anything.

The Duran train is letting off passengers, but give the conductor your name so you can’t get back on later. Meanwhile, I remain in 1st Class seating.

Could Yoshida play first? He can’t he *worse* there than he would be in LF, and he’s a better hitter than Bobby.

Abreu is a comically consistent OBP machine:
2022 (HOU, AA): .399 2022 (BOS, AA): .399 2023 (BOS, AAA): .391 2023 (BOS, MLB): .388 2024 (BOS, MLB): .389
Declining!!! (Kidding)

Pitching Criswell when it is 40? Genius. Just let him give up bombs that die.

Hmm, I haven't seen what you're talking about
I think the computer has real low opinion of Yoshida in the OF and the computer is running things for the most part. Hamilton continuing to play SS ahead of Rafaela when they're both no the field is something no human would do
This is what I was referring to, though it's not 100% clear if the frustration is coming from Yoshida's side or the reports' sides but I interpreted it as the former. Also could be some guesswork by Cotillo. It could be frustration with an injury, though. I am Mr. Masa-hater, and even I’d find it odd to be sitting him unless it was physical. If he warms up, he’s a better hitter than 1/2 the lineup.

I don’t know… at this point let’s go the distance : get to none of our starting IF, none of our rotation from opening day. Has that ever happened before?

Rob Refsnyder has half of Verdugo’s bWAR… in 4 games. And he is 4th in Sox OF bWAR behind Duran, Abreu, and O’Neill. Seems like Breslow knew what he was doing when he jettisoned AV. (OTOH, I note Masa has the same oWAR as Kenley Jansen. Kind of tough to have a DH whose value is the same as a guy who never bats). I don't know that we need the daily updates on Yoshida's WAR. It's just not a very useful stat for DHs, I think; fangraphs is apparently planning to overhaul their positional adjustment, with DH set for the biggest change. Last season Justin Turner had only 1.0 WAR, but most people seemed satisfied with his performance.
And for what it's worth, he does have a 162 wRC+ and .923 OPS in his last 7 games.
Sigh. Not daily. But I will make sure to date any future comment on Masa to insure proper spacing. Of course WAR is not the best measure, and I do not advocate DHing Jansen. I was more serious about the OF… I have complained for the last 5 years about an inferior OF, and here it is, the strength of the team. Exciting! Side note: I’ve been against moving Rafaela to SS, but when O’Neil returns, it is the best option if only to ensure the best OF (though I’m not sure of the defensive alignment).

I don’t think muscle is the only explanation for Beni. He hit ok in KC. His power evaporated, but his BA was good. And we won a GG (I know, I know), which suggests his athleticism hadn’t totally disappeared.
It is sad. I wonder if he has back issues or something. He reminds me of Greenwell and Trot… with a more extreme cliff.

Masa with bases loaded and one out is a formula for a double play to end the inning.

That was first 90+ mph pitch. I get Bailey is great, but Booser throws gas and is not really using it. Bam. Guy goes from cutters to 4-seam, hard contact over.
