It is remarkable how sad and close to home this hits. I was diagnosed with testicular cancer 3 years ago when I was 26. It all started due to swelling and really back pain. Surgery a week later and it still metastasized out of my groin. Even if it spreads it is still 90% prognosis, just a damn shame to see someone so talented be lost too early.

This team just can't get out of its own way against this team.
It's also as if Farrell just waved the white flag on the offense. Only defensible way to go to Barnes is trying to outlast the bullpen and steal outs.
Needless to say that strategy didn't work.

Welp that is not a great way to start the series. Hopefully they can rebound tomorrow and somehow manage to take 2/3 still.
Big missed opportunity.

Welp that will just about do it.
Hopefully they can keep up the momentum in Chicago but I am guessing the bullpen will be used early and often tomorrow with Price's debut.

1 run or 2 run not going to matter with the offense going into a cave today.
Just seems like one of those days unfortunately.

Managing is far from the biggest issue regarding this team.
They have to start putting up consistent offensive numbers. They have had spurts when they have broken out but too many 1 or 2 run offensive showings which puts way too much pressure on the pitching staff to be perfect.
If the bats don't turn it around this is going to be a middle of the pack team.

Since you mentioned him four times in your post he must be important. Can you enlighten me on the identity of "Yankee Joe"? I would assume Torre.

Nice clean inning from Wright. Would be nice for him to get in a groove and get two more innings in before handing it over to the bullpen.

Come on it's Dombrowski; it'll be Devers at least, maybe Groome as well. Why Devers. That doesn't make sense unless they have something figured out at 3B and DH. It almost seems as if they are choosing Devers as it seems crazy to deal both of them.

“@bnightengale: Frank Wren now becomes leading candidate to be promoted and become #Redsox GM” Dear Lord, no. Honestly does it really matter? I am sure his role this past year, or lack there of, for Hazen was a big motivation in any move. Even if a GM is announced it is and will be Dombrowski's show. I am sure Hazen wasn't fully on board nor did he 'check' Dombrowski when the Kimbrel move was made.

What a disappointment this team wound up being. They won as many post season games as the other 20 teams that didn't make the post-season. This is what happens when there are 100 playoff rounds. It's all buzzard luck. Regular season is meaningless. Meh Sox get beat this year anyway you slice it. Yes there is a certain amount of luck involved (see tonight). But they got their behinds handed to them in game 2 and game 1 was the furthest thing from luck. Cleveland just escaped with a narrow victory. The Sox got outplayed this series overall. Should they have had an opportunity to play a 4th game? Absolutely but can't put yourself in that position to begin with.

Well onto next year, will be an interesting offseason to say the least.
Sucks for Ortiz and that is going to be a major gap to fill.

Yeah, that's the silver lining of the series: Maybe DD's over reaction for this elimination would be firing this incompetent manager instead of trading Devers. Why not both?

I'm bummed, but... I didn't have high hopes for this season. The young guys look great. No one had a career year. Losing Papi is terrible, but the future is very bright. I am still optimistic about Pomeranz. I said it. No one had a career year? I think Mookie and Ortiz classify there.

Ouch. This is so painful to watch. Big Papi deserves to go out better than this. How quickly things change in this sport. Two weeks ago, the Red Sox are riding an 11-game winning streak and looking like the best team in the AL. Now on the verge of losing 8 of the last 9 to end the season. I mean Papi hasn't been lights out this series either. Just a whole lot of problems across the diamond, tough to win a series like that.
