The Red Sox care more about makeup when signing amateurs than any other team. Did they forget to give Acosta the Neuro-testing?

What's the most money a drafted player ever turned down?

The Braves are not getting a Moncada/Benintendi caliber prospect from anyone for Teheran. I don't want him period, but I have no concern about that happening.

I agree wrt Devers and Neo, and as painful as it would be if either of them are shipped out it means we're getting something huge in return.
Of course I would have said the same if you told me we were trading Margot and Guerra in the same package...

Neftali Feliz is a name to keep in the back of our minds. Seems to be having a bit of a renaissance in terms of stuff and results. Only a rental so he shouldn't cost nearly as much as someone like Vizcaino. Pirates haven't come to grips with being sellers yet, but they will.

9 straight wins? Lowell must be loaded with prospects! Best pitching staff I've ever seen there, and the draftees haven't shown up yet. And I was being sarcastic. Shows what I know!

Keep buying the 100 dollar seats and 6 dollar hotdogs while watching an ownership group run this Team in the ground. Signed, A guy who will watch every single Red Sox game this year

A month's worth of solid starts in Salem...he could be a very nice trade chip for us at the deadline.

Could it be any more obvious that O'Brien has been instructed to talk about Wright starting the all-star game? I've now heard him use the same line at least three times in the last week. It's uncomfortable to hear him shoehorn it in.

At what point does the organization move Moncada off 2B and to 3B or the OF? Now that he's in the upper minors, things could start moving rather quickly. I'd be willing to bet it's sometime post 2016. He just got to AA, and the Sox usually make those adjustments in AAA/MLB. They started playing Mookie in the outfield after about 30-40 games at AA. Depends on how long Moncada is in Portland, but I believe he'll start the transition there.

I still don't know if I believe there was a deal in place with SD @ 24 for $5mill. And even if there was, it seems ridiculous that Groome would fall that far. Hey if they wanted him so bad, they should have taken him at #8. It just doesn't add up to me. The video showed him being pretty psyched to be drafted by the Sox too. Being psyched in the moment because your boyhood dream has officially happened and you're surrounded by family and friends freaking out doesn't contradict Klaw's report at all, to me. And it's not like we're talking about Jim Bowden here. Law is a credible journalist. As long as he signs, does this matter one bit? We won't even remember it two years from now.

Hadn't even really thought about this. I know we all love Vazquez's defense, but Lucroy is very good on that end and is a massive, massive upgrade offensively at one of the only spots we can really improve.
I know the knee jerk reaction is that he's not a pitcher, but the reality is you improve however you can, and if there isn't a stud pitcher available, Lucroy might be our best shot to significantly upgrade the roster. 1 more year of control for virtually nothing in terms of salary, so he's not a rental but he also won't cost an arm and a leg (will cost an arm OR a leg).

So instead of using Kimbrel in a tie game Sunday we're now using him while down a run because he needs the work.

Kimbrel should have been in to start the inning. I thought Farrell didn't believe in that saving your closer BS. Pathetic.

Sorry guys. I am officially off the Matt Barnes bandwagon. DFA. See you after the All-Star Break. If he threw 94 with the exact same results he would've been demoted a month ago.

You know what's a better strategy than 5 infielders? Bringing in a reliever who isn't garbage.
