Some of these starters turn into pumpkins when Porzingis is out.

They’ve decided to play like clowns in the 4th quarter tonight instead of the 3rd.
I’d call that progress.

Oh look, another joke of an effort to start the 3rd quarter.

Slow night for Tatum and The Porzingod, but Jrue and White absolutely took charge in the 4th quarter. Great win! I thought Tatum was terrific, despite the lower scoring number. He was a monster defensively and on the boards, and that pass to Derrick was a thing of beauty.

Oh look, another pathetic effort to start the 3rd quarter.
Perhaps this coaching staff can pay attention and address this clear issue.

The officials think they’re as big of a part of the show as the athletes, that’s the problem. Just shut up and do your job. The Tatum ejection was ridiculous. He was getting hacked and they didn’t want to call it because we were winning by too much, and then their egos get bruised when the players tell them to do their jobs I think the problem is even bigger than this - this young wave of refs is either being encouraged or enabled to act this way by leadership, with zero accountability or repercussions when they mess up. Old school guys like Joey Crawford and Scott Foster get bad reps, but they were/are good officials who keep control over the games they call. In my opinion, they actually gave TOO MUCH leeway to players (unless your name is Chris Paul or Tim Duncan) and allow way too much whining nonsense. But they at least treated players as professionals and allowed for dialogue. These young refs are such soft losers who have created a toxic work environment for all involved, along with a worse experience for fans.

I really don’t remember a time the relationship between officials and players/coaches was this toxic.
Maybe Adam Silver should try paying attention and intervening, but he’s too busy looking for another deal to make with casinos.

Not making shots, and taking lots of hard shots. No legs? Yeah, they’re fried. It’s not just the back to back, but the Celts have played five games in seven days while Milwaukee has played twice in six days. Abysmal scheduling by the clown show NBA schedule makers.

I fully expected them to be sluggish, but this team has been a complete mess defensively.

Back-to-back inept performances on the defensive end. They held them to below their season average in regulation By 1 point, at home, with Minnesota missing a couple starters. I’ll give them a pass tonight since Porzingis was out, but it feels like there’s another gear they can reach on the defensive end.

It’s not an either-or situation. The defensive effort was embarrassing in the second half. But NBA refs - who get paid a lot of money - should be able to make easy calls with the benefit of replay. The officiating has been deteriorating for years now, and the league doesn’t seem to care about fixing it or holding their refs accountable. Of course it’s not and criticize the refs, it’s just not the reason they lost the game. It’s part of the reason they lost the game, lol. There are many other reasons - a lackluster effort in the 3rd quarter yet again, Joe inexplicably not calling a timeout on a broken play yet again, Jaylen shooting a contested jumper way too early, etc. But the refs overturning a blatant foul on review AND awarding the Pacers ball with 3 seconds left was absolutely part of the reason they lost the game.

I was checking updates while grocery shopping so I missed the end. Can anyone tell me what the hell happened? Jaylen got hit in the head with 3 seconds left. The refs called a foul, Indy challenged it…and not only did the refs overturn a blatant foul, but they inexplicably gave Indiana the ball when they didn’t have clear possession. Porzingis then fouled a shooter with 0.6 seconds left, and that was that.

He is, but that’s an insane overturn. The NBA needs to fix these issues with reviews, because the game officials just aren’t capable of making these decisions. It wasn’t a foul. Yes, it was. It’s only a clean play if he gets the ball before hitting Jaylen in the head, which didn’t happen. Silver doesn’t get nearly enough criticism for how much worse the officiating has gotten on his watch. The league doesn’t seem interested in fixing the rules or improving the way the game is officiated.

Scal is such a homer. Shame on Brown for forcing a shot. He’s shown all season he knows better too. He is, but that’s an insane overturn. The NBA needs to fix these issues with reviews, because the game officials just aren’t capable of making these decisions.

Indy’s gonna drop 40+ this quarter without Haliburton. This defensive effort is a complete embarrassment.

Tatum is a top 5 player in the league period. He had a bad shooting game tonight and still had 31 with 10 dimes and 5 steals. Him and White lead the team in +/- so I don’t get this narrative that he isn’t buying in while the other guy does I do think the shot selection can get better but he’s still pretty clearly an absolute monster out there. 31-7-10-5 is no joke for an off night Team had no effort on the glass today. Pistons just gonna piston Tatum is a tremendous basketball player who still doesn’t get enough credit for everything he does outside of scoring. I just don’t understand why he continues to make things harder on himself. He’s not an elite 3-point shooter, but he insists on taking the volume and difficulty of 3s as if he were. Not only are those low-percentage shots, but it’s constantly taking him out of positions where he can attack the defense, draw fouls, find open shooters or cutters, etc. Just look at the correlation between his 3-point field goal percentage and number of attempts over the years. He’s at +38% when the number of attempts are between 7 and 8, but it’s dipped to about 35% the last three years when he started shooting +8 or +9 per game. This should be a simple adjustment - turn 1-3 of those pull-up 3s into an attack from the high post, and he’d probably add a full point and 0.5 assists to his per game averages while drawing even more fouls against opposing defenses.

Tatum has earned a lengthy trip to the bench. His shot selection continues to be horrific.

Unsurprising clown show performance so far.
Maybe if they shoot 70 threes, things will get better.

I’m begging this coaching staff to constantly remind Tatum he’s a 35-percent 3-point shooter. He’s taking about three 3s too many per game, and it needs to change ASAP. They listened!

Tatum needs to get benched the next time he takes an awful pull-up 3.
He needs to keep attacking these defenses relentlessly. The open 3s will be there for him, but his default mode should be the high post-ups and attacking the basket.
