Brannen (and Kervin Suarez) took some extra bunt practice after everyone else went in from BP this morning. ![](https://photos.smugmug.com/Spring-Training/Red-Sox-ST-February-26-2018/i-hf4pVwR/0/c58c1d01/L/20180226_4119-L.jpg) ![](https://photos.smugmug.com/Spring-Training/Red-Sox-ST-February-26-2018/i-Mm8t2Rj/0/11833c76/L/20180226_4116-L.jpg)

With apologies if this did get posted earlier and I missed it, and thanks to carmenfanzone for sharing (and Chris for forwarding...), here's the spring minors schedule: ![](https://photos.smugmug.com/photos/i-c8h433R/0/44d17a62/L/i-c8h433R-L.jpg)

Pretty sure this was reported last fall, but Danny Bethea is definitely working out as a pitcher now. (He pitched the last inning of the Sea Dogs' Field of Dreams game last September.) I'm going to assume you haven't seen a roster yet, right? I think the last time I got my hands on a minor league roster was on Edison Ave. (Still looking for copies of the minor league game schedule BTW, so if you could share that I'd be grateful!) There are a ton of pitchers here, though, and they were coming out to the back fields as the major league morning workouts were ending--one of the coaches laughingly told Bethea he was still trying to get used to seeing him with the pitchers instead of the catchers. Tomorrow the big club is in Bradenton so I'll be checking out whatever's happening (if anything) with whatever minor leaguers are here.

I think any extra added measurement like velocity doesn't hurt to have in determining things like health and arm strength in spring training. You certainly can't go by results, that is for sure. Of course, but they don't necessarily make any of that other information public at this stage either. I'm sure the Sox had someone with a gun, just not sure they want pitchers looking at it in their first outings, let alone fans and media.

There was no radar gun in the spring training game on NESN, which really ticked me off. No gun readings in the park, just pitch type. When even starters are only going 2 innings I don't think they want anyone worrying about velocity.

Any reason that Chavis hasn’t seen any action in the first four games? Is that normal? I am curious as well and may ask tomorrow. He didn't work with his expected work group this morning or yesterday morning, but I did see him in the Sox dugout today pregame so I wonder if it is something small or illness-related.

Hey carmenfanzone, can you by any chance at least post which teams are traveling or staying behind on Monday, 3/26 (Rays) and Tuesday, 3/27 (O's)? Ian and I are going to probably be down there those days and that'd help for planning purposes! If you have a photo or scan of it, carmenfanzone, I can post it here--otherwise I'll grab one Thursday. sittingstill@gmail.com

As has been the case in recent years, the Rochester Red Wings have posted their spring training schedule first. So we have a starter schedule, with games starting March 14. If the Red Wings are playing the Norfolk Tides, we know the Sox affiliates are playing their Rays counterparts, and if Rochester is playing Durham, we know the Sox are playing the Orioles. When Rochester plays Pawtucket, the AA teams will also play in the same location and the A-ball teams of the Sox and Twins will play at the other parent team's complex.

I hope these writers know that most people will never pay these monthly subscriptions. On the other hand, the way to get people to pay them is to make the product worth it. FWIW the Projo is $16/month for an online subscription, which I find high for a newspaper (but I don't live in Providence). The Athletic is $7.99/month, cheaper if you go annual. If there were a Boston edition and they snagged, say, Alex Speier and Chad Finn, I'd sign up today.

Was there? In the video it looked like Martin and Scott to me. There's an interview with him on the Red Sox website. The more the merrier! Not sure why it's so hard to find a list. But I believe they said there were ~100 players, and the Astros did send four last year.

Spinners game suspended after two innings; will resume tomorrow at the scheduled start time of 11:00a, followed by Thursday's originally scheduled game, weather permitting (but it should definitely be better tomorrow than today). I believe Game 1 goes to nine innings (so 7 more) and Game 2 will be 7, but don't quote me on that.
ETA: I type slow.

Portland cancelled due to rain (it won't be made up; Field of Dreams moved to tomorrow's 1:00p game) and Lowell postponed (doubleheader tomorrow at 12:35p). The field of Dreams promo is my favorite promo event in our system. As a photographer, you must love it. It's the best. It's killing me that it was moved, since now I'll be missing my only chance to shoot a true Lowell day game (and a DH at that) but the uniforms are gorgeous and it's such a great opportunity to get shots that aren't game action. Just a bit better to drive back on Sunday instead of the holiday!

O'Linger starting for Lowell in place of Duron; think they are skipping a start for him.

it's a rainout in Pawtucket that's getting played as a PawSox home game in Indianapolis. Exactly--so the PawSox will bat in the bottom half of the innings in Game 2. I hope they get a walkoff win, to balance out the walkoff in the Gwinnett home game played at McCoy April 29.

Silver, gold, whatever. Hey, don't knock a team whose leadoff hitter is TED WILLIAMS. ![](https://photos.smugmug.com/Lowell-Spinners/Lowell-Spinners-June-18-2017/i-XK9fsMW/0/82314213/L/20170618_0770-L.jpg) (Well, THAT Ted Williams, anyway.)

This isn't really a correction, and perhaps it should have been a separate thread, but I wonder to what extent the site could make use of the accents on the names of many players of Spanish-speaking heritage. I'm struck--and delighted!--that the PawSox saluted Héctor Velázquez in a tweet last night. And at the same time I have to acknowledge that I can't always do so--heck, Smugmug won't even allow the hyphen in Tzu-wei Lin's name--and that I have resigned myself to the general electronic loss of the apostrophe in my own last name. So I'm not sure how it would work in databases, for example. But I'd love to see it in write-ups and on player pages when we have a source for the correct spelling.
