I think the entire Gomes vs Nava is one of the worst managerial decisions in the history of the World Series. Gomes has had 50 post season AB now, 43 of which were this year, and has hit at a .130 pace with a total of 1 HR. And most of those AB came against RH pitching. It was clinically stupid and sure as hell hasn't helped this team. If any of you guys want to support that go at it but I think it's an outrage which cannot be explained by conventional analysis. . . . . And it could well cost us a championship. Well, he's basically the only reason we won game 3. So there's that.

A Nava career OPS split that may correlate to the secret reason they think Gomes is the better matchup:
685, high leverage 724, medium 878, low
Gomes is 775, 764, 813.
High lev tends to be closers and 8th inning guys, who in turn tend to be hard throwers.

And that is the very reason he's been in the lineup all along, just virtually nobody here wants to realize it but a handful of us.

I assume that Farrell has even more information than this about matchups, tendencies of pitchers and batters, compiled by various employees, famous and not.

Hope that they start out as batting fire up as Game 1 and never look back. It's time to get over NOW and claim the WS trophy!
Is anyone have concerns by having 4 RH (Napoli, Gomes, Victorino & Bogaerts) in row from the line up? Hope they figure out by Wacha's pitching tendencies.

A scoreless top half of the first would be huge. Keep the buzz in the crowd on high without letup. I can't wait to see what the energy at Fenway Park is like. Should be electric. If things go the way we all hope they do this could/should be the greatest night in the history of Fenway Park. After all when the Sox won those Championships in 1912 and 1918 at Fenway it certainly wasn't at night.

Xander Bogaerts, 3B David Ross, C I'm happy these two are even playing, so I won't quibble with the rest!

Back to Peavy and Game 7, if necessary, Lester should be able to throw a GOOD amount if needed. Like 50-60 pitches.
He only threw like 89 in Game 5 and it would be his side day.
So that should give us confidence. Along with a Doubront who is pitching really well.

Now let's never use him or any other pitcher in that roll in any regular season game ever.

Really impressed with his toughness and heart in these playoffs. While I wouldn't say I questioned it per se, it's awesome to see him put the subject beyond reasonable doubt.

I have all confidence that the sox can win today. My only concern is that the last time the cardinals were in game 6 of the world series, the opposing team had alot of trouble getting the last out and ultimately lost... (2011 world series game 6)

(2011 world series game 6) Red Sox have also had leads in couple of clinching games (G7), like in both 75 and 86, yet couldn't hang on late. Think there is way to much over analyzing going on here today ladies and gentlemen.

I hate that everyone is seeing today as a coronation, pouring into Boston to celebrate. How did we get from fearing the worst to expecting victory. I am worried until out 27.

Dumb side question. Do the Red Sox fly in their top prospects to watch a game like this? Obviously not from the dugout, but a box or seats.

Wacha's fastball looks impressive as hell early. Let's see if he can sustain it.
