Just a terrible 0-2 pitch from Lackey.

Yeah, Pierzynski can still do that.

Interesting shift against JBJ, normally you have 3 on the right and one guy at SS, but that was more like 3 on the right and one guy at 3B. Bunt protection?

Is it worrisome that Pedroia has yet to walk this season?

Is it worrisome that Pedroia has yet to walk this season? He's looked out of sorts for a few games now. He'll be fine in the long run, but it would sure be nice if he found his groove sooner rather than later and helped make up for the fact that the Red Sox are down a couple of starters.

@nickcafardo: According to an MLB source, Koji Uehara's medicals (shared by MLB teams) on his shoulder have been a concern but has pitched through it

There was a tweet before the game about Ortiz advising Bradley to take the single if they want to give it to him. ADD: Found it: Buster Olney ?@buster_ESPN 1h Yankees put a shift on Jackie Bradley, Jr. on Friday, and David Ortiz encouraged him to drop a bunt and take a hit when NYY give it to him.

If Lackey keeps this up, Sox are gonna have to rip up that bogus medical year and extend the guy. Say 3 yrs @ 42 mill.

They might extend him, but 3/$42m would be way too much. It would effectively be a 2/$41m extension, given a year in advance, to cover his age 37 and 38 seasons. That's way too generous.

As long as the Yanks have good starting pitching they are in this thing. And they currently have good starting pitching.
Ellsbury, Beltran, McCann...etc should be very good offensively. Rumors of their demise were premature.

0-6 with RISP. They're so hard to watch right now. Nava has been awful all season.

Remy is an idiot. No CF in baseball had even a remote chance of making that play on Beltran's hit. I just replayed it and watched closely. NWIH anyone in baseball would have made that play.

Lackey leaves 3 balls up and they are all out of here. It's homer heaven in Yankee stadium and Yanks management knows it.

Red Sox announcers have really gone downhill. Don and Jerry are both bad and I look forward to them being replaced. Thankfully I am getting the MLB Network soon, between that and ESPN games that is a pretty sizeable break from those two.
