Win 2, watch Doubront blow up 1.
Yesterday the Rays hit a sac fly which scored a runner from 2nd base, we've got to watch out for that play.

Doubront on Wednesday night baseball against Archer? Ouch.
Things look good in the other two though.

I hate these guys, and we miss Price. Win two, steal one.

We just gotta beat Bedard. But you know how it is when facing junk ball lefties.

Suddenly, the Rays rotation doesn't look quite so formidable.
Over-under on the Sox assuming first place in this division is June 10 Memorial Day for me. Call me an optimist, but I think they're starting to round into form a little bit.

I don't really understand why the outfield roster crunch thread was closed. Nothing has been solved unless you think Nava is a minor league player.

You're not wrong jimed, but the present "crisis" was solved by one guy's poor play. In the mean-time, there's no deadline for bringing him back, and there are lots of "these things work themselves out" situations; Bradley gets real cold; someone gets hurt; Sizemore becomes a legit CF again or regresses badly; someone gets traded. Furthermore, unless Nava gets hot, it's just not an issue.

I don't think there's any case that JBJ is cold enough that we'd put someone else in CF. We don't have another CF. At some point we have to evaluate whether Sizemore is ever going to be more than replacement level. The -0.6 fWAR so far doesn't think so. (yes I know SSS) That's last on the team.

Re: Grady Sizemore
Pros: his strikeout, walk, and power peripherals are solid (20% K, 8.8% BB, .153 ISO) and compare favorably to someone like Alex Gordon (20.1%K, 7.4% BB, .156 ISO in 2013) or Austin Jackson (21% K, 8.5% BB, .145 ISO in 2013). Based on his year-to-date batted ball profile, his xBABIP is .317, while his actual BABIP is just .236.
Cons: Since April 15th, Sizemore is hitting .081/.167/.162 (that's three hits in his last 42 PAs (though two of those were for extra bases)), with a 26.2% K, 9.5% BB, and .111 BABIP over that stretch. Tough to argue against a .329 OPS.

I dunno ... the peripherals aren't *that* different pre- and post-April 15, but the BABIP is laughably bad. It's a small sample, for sure, too small to make judgements on triple slash stats, imo. We'll see. I think Sizemore could be an OK left fielder, but he just can't play defense well enough anymore to be a real asset.

Weather seems very sketchy the next three days? Hopefully John gets it done this evening. Have the feeling the next two could be DNP.

Pedroia 2B, Victorino RF, Ortiz DH, Napoli 1B, Gomes LF, Bogaerts SS, Pierzynski C, Middlebrooks 3B, Bradley Jr. CF
Bogaerts still too low in the order. Also I don't see why we can't start Ross against every LHP at least.

Probably has more to do with which of our pitchers Farrell wants to match Ross with. Yeah it seems like Peavy is guaranteed to get Pierzynski and Lester is guaranteed to get Ross. I hate that method.

But... you're not one of the starters on the Sox staff. Add: Nice bonus. Since we're in the broadcast area for the Mariners, all of 300 miles nearby, the Seattle - NY game is blacked out on the MLB network since it's available on Root Sports higher on the dial. But, the backup game is Sox - Rays on the MLB alternate.

Speaking of blackouts....my new subscription to MLB network is now useless. I switched jobs from Pittsburgh to near New Haven, CT and MLB will now offer me audio only.
This situation may be for the remainder of the year. How about that?!?!?

Well you should now be able to get NESN on your cable system as New Haven is some what like the Mason-Dixon Line in terms of dividing Red Sox fans from Mets and Yankee fans in CT.

If Betts keeps this up there is an opening in LF for the Red Sox now. They should be working Mookie there at least games a week now in Portland as he could be the spark this team needs.
