This Jake Wesley guy has become an internet sensation today. Here's his latest tweet. Who's to argue with the guy considering he hit on the Stanton story, hit on the Hanley story and then hit on the Pablo story. twitter.com/mlb_nl_al"Literally asked hundreds of times on Jon Lester with Sox. It's less likely now that he signs. Look for trade of Xander, etc. for starter" No

That makes more sense, although we would then lack a long term SS. I don't think Marrero will be more than a utity player here, albeit a very good one.

dave cameron suggesting maybe Bogaerts in a sale or strasburg deal Really don't like the idea of trading Bogaerts, who isn't a FA until 2020, for two years of Strasburg. Would love Sale (FA 2018), but I don't see the White Sox moving him. They've made some nice moves this offseason to make them sneakily decent for 2015.

I hope if rumors are true its cespedes for a starter, Han ram in lf, Pablo at 3b, Xander at ss. Keep betts and sign 1 more starter.
In a totally sarcastic way, they signed Hanley and (maybe) Pablo just so they have a reason to trade cespedes without directly saying coaches don't like him.
Really wanted Headley over Sandoval. I'll stick that statement out over the next couple of years (if he is coming)

Oh, also if they trade Xander for Hamel's I'm leaving everything to go live in the woods.
......Or in the sea.

Matt, would trade Bogaerts for someone like Syndergaard or Walker?

Done deal on Sandoval, so I'm guessing/hoping cespedes is traded and our lineup looks like this ( for now)
Betts rf Pedroia 2n Ortiz dh Napoli 1b Hanley lf Sandoval 3b Castillo cf Bogaerts ss Vazquez c
From Pedroia to Sandoval you have 5 very good hitters. Bogaerts and betts have as much (more) upside as any of them, Castillo a step below that. They could let me bat for Vazquez and this would still be a crazy offense.
I'm not crazy about these moves, as they have a lot of risk. The lineup is staked though.

This guy Jake Wesley seems to have sources with the agents for Stanton and Ramirez. I wouldn't put any stock into his speculation about either Lester or Bogaerts.

If BC trades Xander I will go bananas.

Side note. We lost our 2 round 2 draft picks.

Side note. We lost our 2 round 2 draft picks. I don't believe we can lose the pick we received in the Lester deal. I think we lose 2:6 and 3:6. I still would like to see if we can try to get a pick back, either by trading international pool space, or in other minor trades.

So I guess the plan is:
Sandoval - third Hanley - left Castillo - center Betts - right
Victorino, Craig, Cespedes - returned to their home planet

If we traded Bogaerts, we would have no shortstop. Maybe we're gonna sign Stephen Drew too.

As I said in August, I have no clue what they are doing this off season. Still don't but I'm guessing one or two big trades are coming and you can bid farewell to two of Owens and Rodriguez and Mookie and Xander plus Cespedes.
Can't help but wonder if Mr. Larry's "sign stars" philosophy now re-emerging in baseball ops. I guess we'll all have to wait and see.

Can you imagine what Ortiz is feeling right now? He openly complained about the lack of fire-power, and rightly so. As to some of the line-ups being posted, why would Mike Napoli be batting clean-up anymore? I could even see him moved with the bats we have coming.

Reds and Mariners seem to be most obvious fit for Cespedes now. I also think we have to choose between Craig and Victorino.

If Lester is really coming back (making rotation much easier to fill out and saving Betts/Bogaerts), LOVE this strategy. The Sox filled the hole at 3rd base and then basically brought in this year the replacement for next year's FAs. Given how barren position FA market has been, and that we have a protected pick this year but likely won't next year, it make sense to get the guys you want at a price you want (HanRam especially) even if it's a year early. The flexibility we have now is astounding, and again I say they don't do this if they don't already have a clear path to two pitchers (Lester and trade).

I think the plan is to assemble a team of all players known by their first names alone.
Hanley, Xander, Dustin, Mookie, Rusney, Pablo
Probably means Napoli is gone.

I said in the Cespedes trade thread if we signed both Hanley and Sandaval our options increase. Saturday we thought if Cespedes was dealt there would be a platoon in LF but if Hanley plays there we could essentially put the Nava/Craig platoon at 1B if someone like the M's want to add a Cespedes and Napoli. Also thinking out loud I wonder if Larussa in Arizona would be interested in Craig?

Not sure there is a match for us but a fit for Cespedes.

This is going to be one Super Crazy offseason. Signing pitchers, trading players, going after international prospects all still to come.
