Why are you just citing other people rather than giving us your own scouting in recent weeks? Jim - If you cannot tell the difference between the two posts, I'm not sure my scouting reports are going to help you. RIF.

Benintendi today in regionals: 3-4 w/ a 2-run double.
All three of the guys linked to us (ABT, Bregman, Fulmer) are in post-season play. I will try to keep track of their stats between now and June 8.

Kiley McDaniel @kileymcd Cubs are rolling deep at Dillon Tate's start tonight, including VP Jason McLeod. More evidence clubs realizing Tate could go outside top 4.
Things are starting to get interesting...

@ucsb_Baseball: Tate's strikeout total up to 9 as he strikes out the side in the 7th.
@longenhagen: Tate still mid-90s in 7th.
@longenhagen: Bumpy first inning for Tate. 94-96, t98, slider 87-89 consistent plus with a 70 and a 30 thrown in. Weak contact found holes.
@longenhagen: Dillon Tate says hello with 96, 98, 96, 96, 96.

Looking at the 5 major mock drafts (BA, MLB, FG, Law, SI), this is very interesting: the consensus is that Bregman (BA #4), Tate (#3), Tucker (#8), and Cameron (#5) will all be gone by the time we pick -- along with Swanson (#2), Rodgers (#1), and Jay (#13) who are the consensus top 3. Of course, that doesn't add up, and indeed each specific draft has one of the first four available.
That we are so obviously interested in Benindenti (and maybe in Fulmer) would only mean that we are uninterested in one of those four guys, creating a scenario where the first six guys on our board are gone. And indeed we supposedly like Bregman, Tate, and Cameron; Tucker hasn't been mentioned.
BA has us taking Fulmer over Tate. MLB has Bregman falling to us. DG and Law have us taking Benindenti over Cameron. Only SI has all three of our other reported guys of major interest being off the board.
We know we'll be all over Bregman should he get that far, but it's unclear to me that our interest in Benindenti and Fulmer means that we like them better than Tate and/or Cameron.

Looks like Aro has earned the annual "Edgar Martinez Memorial Relief Prospect Who Gammo Is Too Excited About" slot for this year. Anyway, not a lot in there that's new draft-wise or otherwise. I don't get the sense he did anything other than read the same stuff we have. For the third-rounder, he makes the predictable lazy local connections to Chris Shaw and Rhett Wiseman because of their local ties.

image: walterfootball.com/base/RedSox_logo.gif Dansby Swanson, SS, Vanderbilt Boston took a high school shortstop last year, but one of them could move to second or third or the outfield if they both make it the show. The Red Sox could target one of the college shortstops, and there has been some talk that Swanson could go first to the Diamondbacks on a discount contract. Supposedly, Boston has taken a shine to Swanson. He seems like a perfect fit to be a catalyst at the top of the lineup for Boston with the skill set to stay at shortstop if need be. How can you not love a website that has Alex "Bergman" going to the Rangers at 4, which team is back to using the logo it used in the mid-90s, especially when the site looks like it belongs on Geocities?

Darren Wolfson ?@dwolfsonkstp Told #MNTwins & other teams just got new info. on pitcher Brady Aiken, No. 1 overall pick last year who didn't sign.
Scott Christenson ?@roland315 @dwolfsonkstp hope it was good news. Wasn't he HS teammate of Gonsalves?
Darren Wolfson ?@dwolfsonkstp @roland315 Correct. Twins were very high on him last year. Obviously the injury and Tommy John surgery changes everything.

What is the minimum bonus a team has to give a player? Because that amount might still be significantly more than he'd get at the bottom of the first round or in the supplemental round/2nd round. If a team really likes him perhaps a Minnesota does go that route.
That might be a tough pill to swallow being Aiken and his agent, but after not signing last year and seeing his stock drop he could go from a kid still looking at a few million dollars to signing for 100K in a year or two.
Not saying I want the Sox to take that risk, but if there is still a chance a team like Minnesota takes him then that may help a player the Sox want fall to us.

Not saying I want the Sox to take that risk, but if there is still a chance a team like Minnesota takes him then that may help a player the Sox want fall to us. There is no minimum bonus, as evidenced by JT Watkins taking something like $1000 or whatever it was when they drafted him. There's a minimum amount you have to offer if you want to get a compensatory pick, if that's what you mean. I believe, after a quick Google search, that it's 40% of slot - this came into play with the Blue Jays and Phil Bickford two years ago, I think? Anyway, 40% of the Sox slot value is $1,436,160. As a slot value, that'd be between picks 42 and 43, which coincidentally is when the Comp A round ends and Round 2 begins. For the Twins, it's $1,555,800, which falls between picks 39 and 40. That said, he also doesn't need to sign this year either, necessarily. He could still go to a 4-year school, rehab for a year, and pitch for a year before getting drafted. But of course, I'm sure he doesn't want to do that.

Can we trade some of our international pool money for a for a pick awarded to a small market team?

Can we trade some of our international pool money for a for a pick awarded to a small market team? So, I discussed this here back in April: forum.soxprospects.com/post/135374/thread, but definitely wouldn't have expected anyone to dig and find that, and it could use updating anyway. To update, you have the following: 37 Astros (via trade with Marlins) 38 Colorado Rockies 39 St. Louis Cardinals 40 Milwaukee Brewers 41 Atlanta Braves (Via trade with Padres) 42 Cleveland Indians 71 Cincinnati Reds 72 Seattle Mariners 73 Minnesota Twins 74 Los Angeles Dodgers (via trade with Orioles) 75 Atlanta Braves (via trade with D-backs) (missing pick is the one the Red Sox forfeited for signing Sandoval/Ramirez after trading for it) So looking at the B round, it's really the Reds, M's, and Twins you'd be looking at (I'd forgotten the picks can only be traded once when I made that post in April). I still can't see a trade happening - the Int'l pool money has proven to have very little value as compared with a draft pick. Also note that trading for a Comp A pick wouldn't likely be worth it for the Red Sox - giving up value to acquire a Comp A pick really only gets them the Comp B pick they'd forfeited, as they'd forfeit the A pick and un-forfeit the B pick.
