Saltalamacchia returns from paternity leave... immediately gets DFAed. This seems a little off to me. He's pretty much the same player he has always been. What do/did they expect? I remember the argument to sign him last year was 'we can just trade him when Vazquez is ready'. That was the argument to offer him the QO. I don't think anyone wanted to sign him for more than one year. I don't even think people wanted to sign him. We wanted the draft pick and felt the risk of him accepting was worthwhile. At least that was my feeling. And yes, I did/do think he would have been tradable during the season last year. In hindsight, do you prefer A.J. to Salty on the QO (both in 2014)?

When you say "ass", do you mean the author or Hamilton?

Wow, fringe-profanity. How will this play out? I'd like RISP and ERA added to the list of banned words.

Jose Iglesias' BABIP is in danger of falling below .400, and he didn't help his cause yesterday by hitting a home run, which of course does not count as a ball in play. He did add a single and a triple, however. Iggy's season-to-date WAR is 1.4 (4th in the majors), more than twice that of any Red Sox except Brock Holt, who has 0.8. True. But, applying the Hanley/Beckett Law of 20/20 Hindsight, Red Sox minus Iglesias = Peavy = World Series.

Are we seriously rehashing this crap again?

Bottom of the 7th, 2 On - 1 Out, after walking Xander, Scherzer is replaced by Drew Smyly to face Ellsbury who hits a grouball to Iglesias for what looks like inning ending double play but Jose made the error and it's bases loaded - 1 out situation and Smyly is replaced by Veras to face Victorino and the rest is history

I remember the argument to sign him last year was 'we can just trade him when Vazquez is ready'. -0.4 WAR since going to Florida. The reality is that Salty is a marginal player on average -- an injury, slump, or bad luck, and he's terrible. But I think I would rather have had him at $14M last year than lived through the A.J. Pierzynski Era. (Obviously Door #3 would have been best!) Camden Yards is a nice place to watch a game. Good seats available tomorrow...

It wasn't any specific post that prompted his leaving. It was just time.
Sounds legit.

The fact that Rev Halofan, a notoriously disgusting "writer", still had this gig of spewing hateful nonsense for this long speaks volumes on the overall quality of SBNation, IMO. I remember a post by him a good 6-7 years back during the post-season where he was downright inciting violence against Red Sox fans.

Depends who is running each.
