"The Red Sox brought Varvaro to Boston for more tests on Friday and accepted responsibility going forward.
In November, the Red Sox will have the option of tendering Varvaro another contract offer or allowing (him) to become a free agent."

Wait, really? That's weird.

I'm confused. Is he a Red Sox or a Cub? Was the claim by the Cubs rescinded?

So this basically undoes him being designated initially?

Per Speier, he's Red Sox property again. ML 15 day DL, can be moved to 60 day to open up a spot on the 40-man.

This is so bizarre. I mean wasn't he in any pain? Maybe he should have said something. I can't imagine that he would have been DFA'd if he mentioned that he was hurting.

guess Varvaro wanted to pitch so bad, didn't tell anyone.
but Sox amenable ... is it clear that you cannot waiver a guy with an injury? not sure why Cubs didn't want to keep him, with the low cost.
He'd be ARB eligible for '16, accumulating service time in '15. Not sure what that means for salary expectations. with injury eliminating '15.
