The problem with Castillo to Boston right now is who does he replace? Likeliest candidate is Bradley, but hes only been up a few days and his starts have been against top pitchers. More importantly, he hits right-handed - same Victorino. I think they'd prefer to have a traditional platoon. Ideally, Vic plays keeps playing well and they can trade him. Theat would clear the way for Castillo in RF with Bradley as the 4th OF'er and Nava as the 5th and backup 1B. Castillo replaces everyone who plays RF because he's likely much better than everyone else, especially vs RHP. Victorino can be the 4th OF. I'd rather JBJ play every day at this point - in AAA. The short answer is that the front office disagrees, or at least thinks the magnitude of the difference between Castillo and Victorino/Bradley is small enough that it's not worth calling Castillo up (at last until they're totally comfortable in his health/ability).

I think it may be more that the front office thinks the difference between starting Victorino and starting Castillo, creating a clubhouse problem with Vic and potentially missing the opportunity to allow Vic to reestablish some trade value is not worth calling Castillo up, especially when his injuries have given them enough reason to leave him down for a little.

That would be Bib the Michelin Man. He is clearly not deflated. Michelins US operations are based out of Greenville.

Anyone else concerned that the Sox are not batting Moncada higher than 6th in the lineup?

If Moncada fails I think it could spell doom for US/Cuba relations. I thought when Castro emptied his jails during the mariel boatlift it would have destroyed any.. But what do I know?

Anyone else concerned that the Sox are not batting Moncada higher than 6th in the lineup? But they'd bat him 7th over Xander if he were on the Sox.

Miller, Dubon, Devers and Longhi conspire to make us wait until the 2nd inning for Moncada's first plate appearance. (Devers tried to ground out like the others but reached on an error instead and scored on the Procyshen double.)

Excellent leaping catch of a soft liner by Moncada ends the bleeding in the 3rd inning.

Busts happen and there's nothing you can do about them. But it's way too soon to make and judgements. So far he is hitless; the sample size may be small, but I don't like the trend. The trend continues in an infinitely larger sample now ... when do we start to get worried? Next at bat?

This is a showcase, right? Hamels isn't going to get himself here, Nick Cafardo reports.

From the Gameday log: Minor League Baseball, everybody! It keeps going! With Rafael Devers batting, wild pitch by Colin Rodgers, Mauricio Dubon to 3rd. Rafael Devers walks. With Jordan Procyshen batting, throwing error by Chase Vallot on the pickoff attempt, Mauricio Dubon scores. Rafael Devers to 2nd.

This is American baseball?"

Longhi tried to set up Moncada's first grand slam, but the Lexington RFer committed an error that moved the runners up.

Moncada being introduced to the automatic 3-0 strike - walks on 5 straight balls.
Grand slam opportunity passed on to Chief Chavis.

Chavis also got 3 straight balls, but unlike Moncada he swung at all of them, fouling off the 3rd. Then finally a strike. Chavis absolutely smoked that ball - scored an E3 but could just as well have gone as a hit.
