I know it's Moncada Monday. But, every start E-Rod or Brian Johnson make over the next few weeks is important if they want the call in case S. Wright isn't cutting it. I'm assuming Masterson works out of the pen when he comes back.

I don't know when Ball's next start is but can someone talk me off of falling of the ledge with him? Just kidding but are we at mechanical or he just needs to pitch full time more. I can live with missing some of these picks like Vitek but a top ten pick hurts when you are not there very often.
I know there was a write up about him and are we dealing with what that write up says there is no new issues? I am rooting for this kid I feel better with Kopech.

I will be worried about Trey Ball in 2 years, if he hasn't made REAL progress. I agree about that top 10 pick. You can't afford to miss. What has always worried me about Ball is him not missing enough bats.

The thing is, we have the 2nd highest rated farm system in all of baseball (and that has zero to do with Trey Ball), so actually....you can afford to miss with the #7 pick. That said, he has plenty of time to develop, and I am hoping for a higher floor/similar upside with our #7 pick this year.

Busts happen and there's nothing you can do about them. But it's way too soon to make any judgements.

If Moncada fails I think it could spell doom for US/Cuba relations.

Regarding Ball I glad a lot of people aren't worried. I try not to get into the hype on the radio but I admit it gets to me.

Alex Speier at Greenville today ... this is why he's my fave. Not only did he fly down to Greenville for this, I bet he's actually excited to do it. Altho he reports the tarp is out on the field, so perhaps no Moncada today. Peter Abraham is concerned about that, I'm sure.

Castillo is not in Pawtucket lineip today...hmmmm He cannot take playing time away from Craig. (I kid, kinda) He's played 6 straight games, all in CF. He's also played 10 of the last 11 and 12 of the last 14, with two of those starts at DH and the rest in the OF. It's pretty normal for a guy to sit in that situation in the minors, especially if he's ramping up after an injury. Still entirely possible he's with the big club for a potential move to start the homestand tomorrow. Just saying the fact that he's sitting alone doesn't mean that's certain.

The kinda part of it was because I really don't understand why he's being babied so much. It seems like they're treating him like a delicate flower who cannot possibly handle the majors and are worried he might be permanently harmed if they promoted him, unlike everyone else in the organization like Swihart, Barnes and even JBJ.

The problem with Castillo to Boston right now is who does he replace? Likeliest candidate is Bradley, but hes only been up a few days and his starts have been against top pitchers.
More importantly, he hits right-handed - same Victorino. I think they'd prefer to have a traditional platoon. Ideally, Vic plays keeps playing well and they can trade him. Theat would clear the way for Castillo in RF with Bradley as the 4th OF'er and Nava as the 5th and backup 1B.

Castillo replaces everyone who plays RF because he's likely much better than everyone else, especially vs RHP. Victorino can be the 4th OF. I'd rather JBJ play every day at this point - in AAA.

Maybe give him a blow against them once in a while with Rusney in CF, and sit Vic against righties and put him in RF. I know. Too outside the box.
