This is Shaw's opportunity. I hope he makes the best of it. Pretty much your only hope there is a BABIP driven hot streak

If Mookie Betts finishes the season as the AL league leader in bWAR, would it be surprising? Last 97 PA: 1177 OPS. 6/7 K/BB. If he's topping Mike Trout, Josh Donaldson, and Miggy in his first full season, I'd have to say it's pretty damn surprising. Well, he's above Cabrera right now, and he's second in the AL (JD Martinez) in OPS since June 12.

Shaw won't be the answer to the Napoli mess but why not try. Get another lefty in the lineup as well. In my opinion this tells me that the plug has been basically pulled on Napoli. Just my opinion. I think Napoli is just caught in a vicious circle... not hitting.. more pressure on himself... hitting worse... more pressure..etc. I think he needs a change of scenery and I would fully expect him to hit well if he changed teams. I think he would rake in Houston and they need him. I would trade him to Houston for a PTMNL based on performance. Maybe pick 3 players we want at the end of the year... low, medium, high based on how he performs? Of course we would eat salary. I would play Ortiz, Holt, Panda over there the rest of the year and make that a position of priority in the offseason. We have GREAT first base options on the way but we need a 1-2 year filler imho. Or if Panda does ok there... move him to 1B and worry about 3b. I don't know. Lol

I mean, what are sports if you don't discuss decisions made/not made - or as jmei said, "re-litigate the past." My point is not that you shouldn't discuss past decisions. My point is that this exact same debate has occurred at least a dozen times in the last two years on these forums with the same principals making the same arguments. The same can be said about a number of other debates that seem to pop up over and over again (re-signing Lester, Lackey trade, moving Bogaerts to 3B, etc).

I want that guy and I think he's a good trade target for this team.

Wonder what we would have to add to Napoli to get Singleton

Victorino starting over De Aza with a righty on the mound. Okie Dokie... Pretty amazing stuff. Hard to watch a team that makes these sorts of moves on a consistent basis. The explanation probably being that Victorino is 3 for 5 against Haren in his career.

Without looking.... I am assuming Craig must be off the 40 man roster or he would be up for one last shot right? Not worth that red tape and not like he is tearing it up. We just need a filler.... I think Devers will end up at 1B in a few years. Maybe Sam Travis comes on... Maybe Chavis could play 1b? Panda could end up there and probably will imo. Does anyone know if Peguero or De Aza could handle 1b?

All those options for 1B are either really mediocre or 2+ years from fruition. They either need some strict platoon (lol John Farrell) or they need to trade for a 1B because the upcoming FA corps(e) is uninspiring.

Agree but if we are truly connected to Park, you could sign him probably for $5M/yr and if you trade for someone like Singleton, there's a platoon right there. There's also flipping Buchholz for Schwarber if we're able to obtain someone like Hamels. Who knows, but there's options.

Is it possible for the MLB to hire an umpire that doesn't suck at life?

I really want to see a Panda at 1B experiment. I think he could man 1b. If only Cecchini didn't take a dump on his progress. Grr. I know the likes of Chavis, Devers, Travis, etc are a few years away. It is why I said we need a 1-2 year filler. Most likely 2. Still would be curious I'd Deana could play,1b

We need the most help with our pitching. I hope, if anything on this team gets addressed, it is that position.

You're underestimating Buchholz's value in the current market and overrating the value of a prospect, especially if you take into account recent trades around the league.

If Dan Haren was a member of the Church of Latter Day Saints, would he change his name to Dan Harem?
