[br Castillo to the bench? So much for the "need of playing time". I don't get it. I couldn't agree more. With each passing week I feel more confused about what this team thinks it's trying to achieve. Is this an example of advanced saber metric analysis?

The best way to showcase De Aza is to sit him while he still has some value. Don't get it, either. I have to agree with this. Really disappointed with the front office's player evaluation, handling of (major league) player development, and on-field management since 2013. I mean, this would have been the perfect time with a perfect excuse to sit De Aza. But no, of course not. I mean even other teams in the league would have understood that they were just trying to get Castillo playing time. Its like they think that De Aza having another good game is going to put this team over the edge (or his value over the edge, if the FO is pushing Farrell like some of the "omg value increased this game" forum posters or something).

I love Pedro. Easily the best I have watched pitch in my (albeit young) life. It was electric every time he was on the mound.

WTF guys? I thought the thread today will be all about the greatest pitcher (and human being if you ask me) to ever live!!! Anyway, thank you Pedro for being beyond amazing, thank you for introducing a young tunisian student who didn't knew s*** about the game of baseball and the Red Sox fandom. You're the best, thank you for the memories and all the emotions! Love you and forever gratefull!

After honoring a HOF pitcher Miley proceeds to soil himself against one of the worst teams vs LHP in baseball.

Absolutely disgusting that this is the team we put out there after honoring one of the greatest pitchers ever.
Disgraceful.

Also pay no attention to the Miley you see or his results. His stats say he's much better than this.

I think Pedro can get off the couch right now and pitch better than this.

Since the start of 2013, Allen Webster has a 6.40 ERA which is worst in baseball among pitchers with 100 innings over that span. His 5.64 FIP is second-worst, behind Andre Rienzo. Heck, Webster's Triple-A ERA this year is 9.55! Whether you want to compare overall results or underlying peripherals there is really no way to say Kelly is on any level nearly as bad as Webster. I think it's quite possibly obvious that Webster's problem is mostly mental and competence based, while Joe Kelly's command and lack of pitches. They do have similar problems when it comes to command but I don't think you can compare them when it comes to competitors. Joe Kelly is a guy I feel that will pitch 15 endings and 200 pictures if they asked and then pinch it and enter on 15 times if that were possible while Webster will wilt a third inning and go to the shower

The minute this FO admits it made a strategic mistake by thinking it can create a pitching staff that can win by pitching to contact/groundballs, and changes their preferred pitcher to one capable of striking out multiple bitches on the opposing team, will be the point where this team changes it's fortunes.
That's not a knock on Miley, who is a serviceable major league starter. Hopefully Erod begins that transformation and we spent the big money this offseason to get a stud to anchor this rotation.

After honoring a HOF pitcher Miley proceeds to soil himself against one of the worst teams vs LHP in baseball. Miley is clearly paying homage. Pedro is on record as saying his favorite pitching performance was when he gave up 5 in the first against KC and then blanked them until the 8th to save the bullpen. Let's see if Miley can pull off the rest of it.

Betts just got hurt and gave Abreu a homer. Looked to be a great catch but he jumped and fell over the bullpen fence and dropped the ball.

I actually don't want the Sox to make any trades unless it's an undeniably lopsided win for Boston. I no long trust this GM on trades and believe they should wait til the fall to determine if he's coming back or not. That or end this experiement now and go get a good GM now so they'll ready for November and have a more informed and better executed five-year plan in place.
