Mr. Innings Eater Wade Miley will not reach 200 innings this year. I laughed at this (as in a funny thing). Credit to him though, he's taken the ball every time and been decent in enough starts to justify his spot in the rotation.

He's exactly what I thought he was - a #5 NL pitcher. Trade him and his "affordable" contract. As much as I hate knuckleballers I'd rather see Wright next year than this guy. Let him go have his "big breakout" for Milwaukee or some team like that.

Otherwise the bullpen will blow up no matter what arms they have out there.

So some people suggested Kiermaier might be as good as or better than JBJ. NESN just had a nice shot of him hesitating, unsure which way to run on that Papi liner. Of course, Bradley misplayed his own catchable ball an inning later. Even the best of the best aren't perfect.

Let him go have his "big breakout" for Milwaukee or some team like that. He's put up 2.1 rWAR and 2.4 bWAR this year and has better fielding-independent numbers than Eduardo Rodriguez. But don't let that get in the way of your patting yourself on the back because he gave up three runs (two earned) in the first inning.

Mr. Innings Eater Wade Miley will not reach 200 innings this year. He had kind of a rough start to the year. In the second half of the season (Fangraphs split, last 10 starts) 67.1 IP, 3.25 FIP, 1.3 fWAR I'm of the mindset that if some team wants to trade for Miley, they should go ahead and do it for reasonable return. If not, I'd gladly take him back.

And a waste of salary when you can get the same production from another 5.

Mr. Innings Eater Wade Miley is still eating innings in this game. Mr. Big-Time Ace Chris Archer isn't.

Wonder whether Lovullo ordered that bunt or Brock was just being "politically correct".

I don't like him as a pitcher, nor the trade tht brought him here, nor the extension he was paid before playing in the AL. Other than that, I've got no issues with the man. Heck, now that I've been clear about that he can start the one game playoff in Oct.

Does Brockstar not read the newspaper? Not many under 40 do, but I get the point. Swing the bat, outs matter.

I'd rather see Castillo in LF, JBJ in CF and Mookie in RF. Mookie has proven himself as a solid defensive OF. We don't know for sure if Castillo will put up numbers as well yet and I sense Mookie has better range. The arm is an issue but I prefer a guy who can run people down in RF and history has shown Fenway's LF is great for generating throw outs from the OF, which is maybe advantage Castillo. All of them should be plus OF in terms of metrics.
Haven't studied it at all so could well be wrong.
Wow, just looked on fangraphs and Castillo's range is his strength. Plus 10 DRS also. We are stacked in the OF defensively. If we played in the Padres home field we would never lose!
