Miley pitched pretty well against the formidable lineup. The issue is with bats.

Toronto's middle of the order is just unfair.

I don't believe I've ever seen Noe Ramirez pitch competitively.

Now THAT'S a hell of a way to break up a slump.

JBJ isn't human and is just there offensively to frustrate everyone, right?

Now THAT'S a hell of a way to break up a slump. That was ripped even though every home run in Toronto looks ripped.

Ross still has an option left. Tomorrow, we'll continue working on the surprise extra-credit question on DDo's exam: should Hill have his spot on next year's roster?
Hill as a bullpen arm that could double as a possible 5th starter*, sending Ross to AAA as bullpen depth, is inherently attractive, but it has a potentially very big extra upside: you probably now have sufficient starting pitching depth to trade Henry Owens, if you decide that's a good idea.**
Margot, Owens, Guerra, and Miley (plus Marrero, and maybe Chavis / Longhi / Dubon / Stankiewicz) should be more than enough enough to land you a first-rate starting pitcher (likely by involving a third club); you might be able to land a top bullpen arm, too.
*If one of Kelly, Wright, and Hill is the 5th starter and the other two are in the pen, and Buchholz gets hurt, you can piggyback the other two guys for the first replacement start and get your six innings. It means the pen's a little thin during that stretch, but it does mean the impact of having to stretch out your long reliever is minimized. If you're worried about the pen depth, you can option Shaw for 10 days and add a reliever.
**As much as I've championed Owens' eventual upside as a #2 starter, I've always thought that's likely to happen when he's in the last 2 years or so of his team control. I therefore think he's considerably more valuable to a rebuilding mid-market team than to a wealthy contender, but if you do trade him, you ideally want the other team to be valuing him as a mid-rotation guy with clear #2 upside.

I wouldn't call Marrero a league-average bat. He hit .256/.316/.344 in AAA this year, and scouts have long questioned whether he'd hit enough to make him even a second-division starter. He seems like a utility-player-type to me (which shouldn't be taken as an insult; those guys are super valuable). Yes they are. I'm sure there are few teams that wouldn't mind having him on board.

You know for the life of me I can't figure out if people are even watching the same game I am. Ramirez was betrayed by bad defense and bad luck. He didn't help himself but nobody else did either.

Nice to see a comeback win, haven't seen too many of those this year.

A little bit of balls in play luck, then a middle in fastball that he crushed. I don't think Bradley is out of the woods yet, but that was nice to see.
Add: ... and a nice effort by Bogaerts with a blast out to left field on a high knuckler, and then rifle shot out to right. Where are they going to pitch him next year?

If he is as good of a hitter as most people here and most people in the industry said he was coming through the system, he could be scary good if they stop pitching him away

Soft stuff away, hard stuff in. He won't pull the hard stuff and good breaking balls away will lead to weak contact to right.

JBJ's HR was a 448 footer with a 110.3 exit velocity.

I sure hope they bring back Rich Hill. 9 K's in 1st 5 innings! That curve is a real weapon.

Rich Hill may be, at this time, our best starter!! Although that is sort of sad, he has been dominating. I gather after 7 innings and 107 pitches he is done. 10 K's, 0 walks, and his ERA is below .200. Where have you been?
