If the Sox inquired about Sonny Gray then yeah, they may be interested in Daulton Jeffries. His lack of size scares me a bit and he doesn't have overpowering stuff but he has great command of his pitches so there's that. Let's see what he brings the rest of the year in conference play. He's been impressive thus far, or so say his stats, AND he's only 20. Thanks for another name to follow.

Does anyone have any favorite resources for tracking prospect stats throughout the course of the college season?

Does anyone have any favorite resources for tracking prospect stats throughout the course of the college season? Baseball America does a pretty solid job I seem to find.

I wish they had (edit: a good, UTD one) one for top HS prospects. There's a few for colleges though. www.d1baseball.com/

Still hoping AJ Puk slides to 12. Probably not, but there's always hope.

Daulton Jeffries and Anfernee Grier. Anfernee Grier just hit an absolute bomb to dead center in the Alabama-Auburn game. Wonder if he'll be there when we pick in the second?

I haven't been paying as much attention as I usually do but I like Connor Jones from UVA. Nah, I'm good never drafting a UVa pitcher. While I thought this was baiting me at first (good naturedly), I'm actually with you. They do something with their pitchers there especially that just doesn't do it for me. Great as their program has been of late, the pro transition just hasn't gone well for most of their guys.

Would anyone be open to Cal Quantrall at 12? I know the TJs a risk but he'll be able to pitch this year and could start him slow. A lot of the "experts" had him on the way to being a top 5ish pick before last years injury.

I actually agree with the concern about UVA pitchers but to me Jones is the least like UVA pitchers they've had so I like his chances of bucking the trend.
A healthy Cal Quantrill would probably be 1-1 right now so yes I would be following his progress but my guess is the Red Sox will be looking for mor certainty with that pick.

Ugh, I just hate that knee bend they make all of their guys start with.

Oh man, Chris are you a UVA product? I'm due to graduate from William & Mary myself this May... bit of a cross-state rivalry there (though more around academics than athletics these days)

When his stuff is working, he is a very impressive pitcher. I still hope puk falls to us due to his inconsistency, but jones would not be a bad second choice.

I'd need a lot of convincing to take Puk, Jones, or Hudson over Jeffries. Alec Hansen? That's a joke. I wouldn't take Hansen in the first 3 rounds. Meanwhile, if you saved your Kolbrin Vitek posters, you should be able to re-use them once Nick Senzel gets drafted. The Reds should pop Kyle Lewis there.

We have or first Kolbrin Vitek reference of 2016. If you had Temple 7 pages in you win.

Reynolds showed some pretty good power the other way last night with an opposite field double off the mini monster. Sheffield looked good and the runs he gave up were unearned or late where he could have been tiring. The announcers said the pitching coach told them his curve is getting a lot better to go with 96 and a good change. I was intrigued by Ben Bowden in relief. From Massachusetts good LH arm who's in the back end of BAs top 100 and in MLBs top 50. A good college arm like that probably goes before our second pick.

Peter Gammons was hyping up Ben Bowden as a 1-1 pick about 8 months ago. Good times. Troy Montgomery, outfielder for Ohio State, is a 2nd-3rd round sleeper.

A draft eligible FR to keep an eye on is South Caroline's Baden Webb. He sat out last year with TJ and started off a little rusty with control but he's been sharp the last 4-5 starts. SEC player of the week last week and held Vandy to 0 runs on 2Hs and 11 Ks tonight. He's looking like a top five rounder with helium.
