So you agree that you cannot reliably predict who will get popped based on any statistical indicators. That's a terrible argument lol Fenway is a strong long time poster. He seems to have a blind spot on this issue. Give him a break. He won't question your IQ. Or tell you you don't know the game.

Sorry, wrote that wrong, meant not sure what the problem is.

Straight steal of home by Ellsbury. Surely the list of players with more than one in their careers is short. Not sure how to look it up though.

Ty Coob has the record with over 50. Dozens have more than one. The list grows shorter in the modern game. Carew has 17. But several have more than one.

Tampa Bay's Blake Snell looks like yet another pitching stud they have selected/developed. A 6'4" slender lefty with 95 mph stuff and an outstanding curve. He looked great against the Yankees.

Not counting today, he's hitting .335/.457/.682 for the past calendar year, which would be something like Barry Bonds' fifth best season. That's from ages 22.5 to 23.5.

There has been some amazing starts to begin the year (good and bad)...Latos, Storey, Price, Kimbrel, Porcello, Wright, Zimmermann, Grienke, Saltamacchia, Miggy, Harper. Every year there are a number of them, seems this year has more & some like Latos are real head scratchers.

Carlos Carrasco out 4-6 weeks with a hammy. Doesn't seem to be a common injury to pitchers. He was covering 1st base on a GB so I guess it could happen. Also saw Byron Buxton was sent back down (Hitting .156) also hit poorly last year in the ML. Seems he's been a "top" prospect for 5 years now.

You beat me to it. I think it's irrational to think that Price and Kimbrel (who's at 16.3k/9, btw) are going to continue to struggle to this extent. Of course, Wright isn't going to finish with a sub-2 ERA either, but he certainly could do a '95 Wake lite. Porcello has bee very solid, with excellent K rates, for about 20 starts. Buchholz struggled to start last year too, and Rodriguez and Smith will give the staff a big bump. Hembree looks like he's sorted it all out after a few years of control problems, and Barnes has been hit bizarrely hard for a guy averaging 96+ with movement in his FB. He's been missing bats though, and I sincerely doubt that the .450 or so BABIP is remotely close to where he'll finish. Even Koji had a blowup. Remember 2013 and the mess the staff was in early? Unlike previous years, it looks to me like the Sox have more than enough depth this year to weather any bullpen issues and possibly rotation ones as well. The Cubs have a very good staff, and Arrieta is absolutely on fire, but there's no way that they finish the season with a WHIP under 1.10, let alone 1. And the Nationals, too, are just hot. If anything, I'd be concerned as a fan of those clubs because their records are good (not incredible, though), and are built on unsustainable pitching success. FWIW, that the Sox are 10-9 with the staff pitching substantially worse than expected is a great sign, especially with their outstanding K rate (top 3 in baseball) and bad BABIP luck.

We must have reached the point in the season where a player with no service time, called up, will not be able to accumulate a year's service time.
Reds calling up Layne Somsen
