Hellickson has accepted Philly's QO, stating that he was going to reject it until Boras told him multiple teams were reluctant to part with a draft pick for him. I still think he could have got 3-4 years around 15MM per, especially with how weak the pitching market is.

Bill James Online @billjamesonline 48m48 minutes ago I hear the Mets have offered Tebow to the Yankees in exchange for Billy Crystal.

Other 8 declined - Encarnacion, Bautista, Cespedes, Fowler, Turner, Desmond, Jansen, Trumbo.

Astros hired Cora as their bench coach. Will be interesting to see between he and DiSarcina who gets a managerial gig first, in particular if/when one of them is with the Sox

From the WATN files: The A's have signed Felix Doubront and Aaron Kurcz to minor league deals, and the Rockies signed Derrik Gibson. Doubront didn't pitch last season after having TJS in April. Kurcz was pretty good for Nashville - his strikeout and walk rates were both down pretty significantly from his days in the Sox system. Gibson hit .281/.363/.362 for Binghamton.

The New Orleans Zephyrs are now the New Orleans Baby Cakes? For real? Are we absolutely sure we're not characters in a Pynchon novel at this point?

The first few new team names were funny, but this is ridiculous. EDIT: "Also, the Staten Island Yankees are currently in the process of re-branding as well. Their new nickname is up for fan voting. Here are the five nickname finalists: Bridge Trolls, Heroes, Killer Bees, Pizza Rats, and Rock Pigeons."

Rebranding is becoming the new changing the logo I guess.

Yankees dealt McCann to the Astros for Albert Abreau and Jorge Guzman (both RHPs). Yankees covering 11 of the 34 million. Astros then sign Josh Reddick to a 4 year 52 million deal.
Busy day for the Astros.

Abreu is a really nice find. Yankees are making some great trades at the moment. I wonder if they deal off Gardner and even pay Headley to play elsewhere.

WTF? There's some disconnect between my outrage/astonishment and coming up with actual words to describe it.

The weirdest development IMO here is that now we have to be really specific when referencing Rougned Odor beating on fools if we don't want really different results.

Anthony Ranaudo has signed with the Samsung Lions in Korea. Insert Galaxy Note 7 joke here.

Haha up in flames he goes. So disappointed in Ranaudo not even being able to become a back end starter or bullpen arm.

Dbacks have acquired Taijuan Walker and Ketel Marte from the Mariners in exchange for Jean Segura, Mitch Haniger, and Zac Curtis. Initial reaction is they should have held on to "Sky"Walker, but that may be the days of OOTP talking. Haniger could be a nice hitting OF.

Why can't we get front office talent like that? For 2 years of a good player like Segura the DBacks get a promising young SS and a very promising starting pitcher that a lot of us here coveted. Perhaps the DBacks are on the way back up?

Great trade for Hazen, IMO. Sold high on Segura for a potential #1 who's pitched well, but not great. Plus, he got a second piece in Marte who was in MLB at 22 and looks a lot like Segura three years ago. I'm still very high on Walker, so maybe I'm biased, but this looks like a very smart trade to me. Now if DD would just see how interested Hazen is in flipping Walker...
